Welcome to Georgia Virtual School Summer 2016. I will be your student's teacher. As a team, we will work together for a successful semester. Please contact me by email or phone to introduce yourself. Please see contact information below.

Student Orientation Course: Must be completed prior to gaining access to your GaVS Course.
The following items are required for the completion of the Student Orientation Course (SOC):
* students complete all sign off
* students complete all agreement quizzes
* students make a 100% on the final Student Orientation Quiz.
OR
* Students may choose to opt out of the Student Orientation Course; however, students who elect to opt out of the Student Orientation Course are still responsible for all content presented in the course.
Students must finish or opt out of the SOC before gaining access to the course. Following successful completion of the SOC, the date on which students will gain access to the course is dependent upon which schedule was selected at the time of registration.

6 Week: June 6, 2016
5 Week: June 13, 2016
Final Exam Date
Opens: July 14, 2016 at 12:00 am
Closes: July 14, 2016 at 11:59 pm
Note: Public school students contact their school facilitators to learn the date for their Milestone EOC. For public school students the Milestone EOC counts as the final exam. The course grade is incomplete until the EOC grade is reported to GAVS.
Regardless of the start date, the course ends July 15, 2016.
ALL WORK IS DUE DAILY DURING SUMMER SESSION!
Student work is due daily at midnight. Check course schedules for specific due dates. Work turned in after the deadline on the course schedule will be accepted within 2 school days with a late penalty assessed at a rate of 25% of the assignment value per school day.
The Parent Account gives you information about your child’s grades and progress in their course. If your child’s grade drops below a 70, you will receive a phone call from me.
In order to view your child’s progress, you will need to have a parent account within our Student Information System and your account must be linked to your child’s GAVS account. If you already have a parent account please do NOT create a new one. If you have never created a parent account or you have not linked to your student’s account, follow the steps listed below.

During the parent account creation process, you will be required to visit http://www.gavirtualschool.org/ to begin the account creation process.

Georgia Virtual School will have D2L Help Sessions for students and parents on Adobe Connect on the following dates:
June 7 - Brightspace Help Session 7pm. SeeNewsannouncement for details.
June 14 - Brightspace Help Session 11am. See Newsannouncement for details.
You will join by entering the meeting as a Guest. Your username is your first and last name.

Join in and become a Brightspace expert. Learn everything you need to know about your GaVS summer course. Having email issues we can help! Recording links posted after each live session. Attendees will receive a training certificate for their participation and attendance.
*Please note by emailing me your attendance certificate to one of these sessions you may earn 1 extra credit point to your first discussion grade.

Synchronous Welcome Session
I will meet the students in synchronous classes twice a week during summer session. Students will receive information about upcoming lessons and assessments, be able to ask questions, and take part in activities that can lead to bonus points.
Synchronous Classes: Mondays at 7:00 p.m.

Our welcome meeting for both 5 and 6 week session will held on Monday, June 6th, at 7:00 p.m.
Check your GAVS Email Daily
Each of you have an assigned GaVS email account. This email should be used for all course correspondences this semester. You are required to check your email DAILY. Please set up your email signature as directed in the the course news.
