Dear Robert Hunter families,
We were so happy to welcome all of our Cohort B students at school this past week! Our hybrid and virtual learners are showing great resilience and independence as they acclimate to the schedule. Parents of hybrid students have done a great job of submitting their child’s health screening in the Parent Portal - please continue to complete the health screener daily!
We continue to have health and safety precautions in place at school, including social distancing. We ask that you work with your children on tying their shoes independently, so that staff members can maintain distance. We know this will take time, and when children need help, please be assured they are attended to while safety is maximized.
We will continue to use Friday as an open day for pick up from 9-4 pm in the front entrance. Teachers will send communication when they would like families to pick up materials for virtual instruction.
We hope you are enjoying the fall weather, and have a nice weekend!
Mrs. Glaab and Mrs. Braynor
This week's calendar:
Oct. 26th- Cohort A Blue Week, Cohort B White Week
Oct. 27th- Cohort A Blue Week, Cohort B White Week
Oct. 28th - Cohort A Blue Week, Cohort B White Week
Oct. 29th- Cohort A Blue Week, Cohort B White Week
Oct. 30th- Cohort A Blue Week, Cohort B White Week, Halloween celebration for Cohort A
Halloween
We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween next week! It will look different but will still be a special day for our students! Costumes are encouraged on Oct. 30th (Cohort A) and Nov. 2nd (Cohort B). Plastic weapons such as guns and swords may not be brought to school or displayed virtually as part of a costume. Additionally, please remind students that scary or revealing costumes leave lasting impressions on young children. Students should opt for a costume this year that is comfortable to wear all day. All students must still wear a face mask. If their costume includes a mask, a face covering must be worn underneath it. Each cohort will participate in a virtual parade and will get to see their classmates’ costumes via Zoom!
If any families prefer their children not to participate in our virtual parade, please let your child’s teacher know, and they will provide alternate activities for them.
Quarantine
If your child needs to quarantine, please alert the administration and health office. He or she will continue to take part in White Week subjects and will be marked “Quarantine Present” on Genesis. It is recommended that during the Blue Week, a quarantined student can join in on the afternoon virtual lessons with their homeroom teacher (just as they would on their White Week). Additionally, the classroom teacher will provide independent activities. The child may also take part in virtual PE, and the link will be provided by the classroom teacher. Should you like to discuss other options, please reach out to building administration.
ESL Program
Mrs. Martinez and Ms. VanFleet started a new ESL program this week and are providing great learning opportunities for our students! For families of children in our ESL program - instruction continues after the school day ends. Please ensure children log into class zooms with homeroom teachers at the end of the day. Please ensure the health screener is completed daily.
Educator of the Year
Do you know a classroom teacher or educational services professional who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference? If so, please take the time to recommend this person for the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program! If you would like to see what the eligibility criteria for an "educational services professional", click this link: Eligibility Criteria
Please complete the nomination form below for one teacher and one educational professional that you think deserves this recognition!
You may email the completed form below to Mrs. Braynor at jbraynor@frsd.k12.nj.us or print the form and bring it to the main office. Nominations are due by Friday, Nov. 13th.
Drop-off and Pick-up
In an effort to provide a smooth and safe dismissal, all families must email the classroom teacher and main office if a child is being picked-up. Children will be sent home on the bus if there is no prior notification for pick-up. Please do not drive to the building to pick up your child without sending this notification.
A reminder regarding our new drop off/pick-up procedure:
If the parking lot is full, enter through the second driveway. Proceed through the second driveway, enter the staff parking lot, and make an immediate right. The cars will line up through the lot in a double lane as a staging area and then loop into the main driveway and be able to link onto the pick up/ drop off lane closest to the building. As a reminder, please ensure children are ready in the back seat on the passenger side of the car with book bags ready and masks on. For families with younger students, please practice having children get into and out of the car independently.
