The Differences in EM waves and Mechanical Waves

Mechanical waves require a medium to travel through, unlike EM waves, which can travel through a vacuum in outer space. A vacuum is a space voided of matter. To form a EM wave, a electric field is coupled with a magnetic field. The two field move perpendicular pulling and pushing on eachother, which creates the wave, unlike mechanical waves which just require vibrations in a medium.

What disturbances can create an EM wave?

The disturbance that creats electromagnetic waves are produced by charged particles and the combination of magnetic and electro fields.

Fireflies, the little bug that emitts a neon yellow color ever so often on warm sunny nights. Even these little creatures are an example of visible light because you can see it. Lightbulbs as well because the light coming out of it is visible.
