Rountree 5th & 6th Grade Opportunity - STEAM Ambassador Tutoring
Allen STEAM Ambassadors (a student leadership program with a STEM/STEAM focus)
Please consider this virtual tutoring service that was developed by students in the Allen leadership program. As the STEAM Ambassadors are top students that excel in science and math, who better to help other students struggling in these subjects? We piloted the program starting a few weeks ago to 7th and 8th graders after meeting with the middle school principals, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Students in grades 5-9 needing support in math and science can access it through this student leadership program. While it is not a replacement for tutoring with their teacher, we all know of students that would benefit from the one on one support typically offered face to face. Details on the program as well as the required forms/materials are included in this flyer link -
Citizenship: Character Trait of the Month of November
We are excited to announce an additional plan to recognize and reward the positive behaviors we are seeing at Rountree - both for At-School and At-Home Learners. Rountree will align with the Allen ISD Character Traits of the Month. November is Citizenship, so Rountree will be looking for students who demonstrate good Citizenship. We're looking for students who respect others and their property; respect the environment; listen to views of others and are willing to learn, are well-mannered and pleasant. At the end of each month, students have the opportunity to earn a certificate and have their picture made with our Principal to go on our “Wall Of Fame.”
Please help us celebrate and highlight each month by dressing to represent each trait on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
Tuesday, November 3rd, we will wear Red, White, & Blue for Citizenship.
Picture Re-take Day
Picture re-take day is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2020. Additional details will be available soon.
Also, Lifetouch school pictures are in! If you ordered pictures for your in-person student, those have been sent home with students. If you ordered pictures for your at-home student, those are available for pickup at our front office. Please stop by Rountree Elementary anytime Monday-Friday, between 9am - 4pm.

The school-parent compact is a written agreement between teachers and parents. It is a document that clarifies what families and schools can do to help children reach high academic standards. The compact is a written commitment and serves as a clear reminder of everybody’s responsibility to take action at school and at home so that children can learn what is required of them. The purposes of this agreement are to help parents and teachers come to a consensus on the responsibilities of the individuals influencing student achievement.

Free Breakfast and Lunch Meals for all Rountree Students
Allen ISD is offering free meals for all elementary and middle school In-Person Learners, as well as all At-Home Learners (PreK-12), through December 2020. This is part of a nationwide waiver issued from the USDA.
***Parents are encouraged to continue filling out the free and reduced application online at https://www.allenisd.org/domain/37. This will help speed up the process for the Spring term.***
Since September 21, 2020, Allen ISD has been providing free meals to students as part of the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program. Sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), this program allows any student in elementary and middle school (Pre-K-8th) to receive a free breakfast and lunch meal in the school cafeteria, with the option to purchase a-la-carte items.
Additionally, the District offers pre-ordered meals for all At Home learners (PK-12) at no cost. Pre-ordered meals can be picked up daily at Boyd Elementary, Rountree Elementary, Curtis Middle School and Ereckson Middle School from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. The meal includes one lunch and next day’s breakfast. Heating and holding instructions are included so that families can heat their lunch at their convenience. Sign up is required each Friday for the following week at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdjneQ53z65cLN8s8FDWLU8LyZR-n_R-AYexDmi0YoQJ9r0gA/viewform
Curbside menus for the pickup location can be found at https://schools.mealviewer.com/district/AllenISD
Lowery Freshmen Center and Allen High School do not participate in the federally funded program and, therefore, meals will be charged as normal in those cafeterias; however, freshmen & high school students who are learning virtually are able to pre-order and pick up meals at the curbside locations at no cost. Freshmen and high school students qualifying for reduced meals will receive free meals through December 2020. Students eligible for free meals will continue to receive free meals for the duration of the 2020-2021 school year.
For more information on how the federal program operates, please visit www.squaremeals.org or www.fns.usda.gov.
2020-2021 Early Release Days - Early Childhood/Pre-K Students

Celebrating Women Who Fought for Women's Rights to Vote!
Mary Eliza Church Terrell was a well-known African American activist who championed racial equality and women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th century. She was an Oberlin College graduate and part of the rising African American middle and upper class. In 1896, she founded the National Association of Colored Women (NACW) and used her position as president to advance social and educational reforms, along with fighting racial discrimination.
Anna "Annie" Simms Banks was an American educator, prominent race leader & political figure born in Kentucky. In 1920, Anna became the first African American female elected as a delegate for the 7th Congressional District Republican Convention in Kentucky; at a time when women in Kentucky could vote for President but did not have full suffrage. Banks was appointed a member of the Rules Committee.
Early Voting is Underway!
Parents & Community Members, the 2020 Election is fast approaching! It's a general election and a special election this year. General elections decide the candidate who finally “wins” and “occupies” an office (like the Presidency) and/or the legislative assembly seats (state representatives). It will also be a special election, which is an election held to fill a seat which has become vacant between regular elections. Voting information may be found here: https://www.cityofallen.org/1686/Voter-Information
EARLY VOTING: NOW - FRIDAY, October 30, 2020
ELECTION DAY: TUESDAY, November 3, 2020
