Mr. Glover's Weekly Update
Good afternoon, Raider Families,
I hope that you are all having a wonderful end to your weekend. Let’s start with a huge thank you to all of the families that were able to participate in conferences last week. This was valuable time that has increased our capacity as educators and families to support our students. Thank you all for taking the time to collaborate with us to benefit your child. As we enter into the middle of October, please make sure to stay informed with the messages and dates for all of the upcoming events and deadlines. Happy Sunday, everyone.
Traffic Improvements - Thank you.
On behalf of all of the BMMS Educators, I would like to thank you all for the major improvements to the traffic flow in the mornings and afternoons. Your cooperation with the new procedures for drop-off and pick-up has had to more efficient and effective traffic management during this time. As we continue to improve upon traffic management, please continue to utilize the drop off areas that we have provided; Sunset Parking Lot and the East Parking Lot entrance next to the MPR. We continue to request that you do not drop off directly in front of the school as this does block through traffic in the mornings. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
BMMS Reporting Harassment Form
If your child should have any concerns involving harassment or any other incident that requires adult intervention, please encourage or work with your child to speak with a trusted adult on campus a soon as possible. Additionally, your child and you can also utilize the BMMS Reporting Harassment Form. We encourage our students to Say Something if they See Something and this is a great tool for doing exactly that. Our administrators are available to assist any student with a concern on campus, however we need to be informed about the incident as soon as possible to have an effective and positive outcome. If your student cannot meet with an administrator or trusted adult on campus immediately, The BMMS Reporting Harassment Form is an appropriate alternative. This form can also be found on the homepage for the school as well.
ASES Sports Report
Last week we were pleased to have two of our ASES athletic teams participating in events. On Thursday, we were able to kick off the flag football season at Oak Valley Middle School. BMMS was able to field two competitive teams and the Might Raider Bunch did not disappoint one bit. At the end of the competition our A Team fought a great battle, but it wasn’t enough as we ended the contest with a score of 18-14. Fortunately, the B Team was able to end the day with an overpowering performance with a final score of 22-0.
Last Friday, the Running Raiders were able to send over 40 runners to Mount Sac. Invitational for a statewide cross-country event. During this cross country meet elementary, middle, high school, even collegiate athletes from all over the state come to compete. This is the culmination of all of the dedication and hard work that these magnificent athletes have put forth for the entire season. BMMS would like to congratulate all of the runners, coaches and volunteers for what has been another successful season for the Running Raider!!

Halloween Dress-Up Day - 31 October
As we get closer to the end of the month, of course we are also getting closer to our Halloween celebrations. Halloween is a European tradition that rose in popularity in the United States and is celebrated with masquerade dress. On October 31st, BMMS students are free to dress up for school. Dressing up is completely optional, and students are free to wear regular school clothes as well. During this school day celebration students are permitted to wear age appropriate costumes representing fictional characters, heroes, or school appropriate imaginative concepts. Please keep these guidelines in mind:
Costumes should be appropriate to a BMMS school day, and regular dress code standards apply.
No weapons of any kind, real or imagined, plastic or otherwise, may be included as part of a costume.
No full-face masks or makeup may be worn during the school day.
Partial makeup may be used to represent fictional conditions (clown-face, witch-green skin, etc) but should not represent different human flesh tones.
Wigs may be used to represent fictional or historical characters (Ariel mermaid hair, 80s punk hair, etc) but should not be used to represent hairstyles associated with other ethnicities.
Traditional cultural costumes are inappropriate for Halloween.
Costumes representing spiritual leaders and specific religious figures are inappropriate for Halloween.
These guidelines are intended to maintain a safe and supportive environment during one of our celebrated days of the year. We want each and every one of our students to have a respectful and enjoyable time during our celebration of Halloween on 31 October. Please consult with your child as you plan their costume together. If you should have any questions or concerns about any costume that your child may be considering wearing on this day, please feel free to reach out to a School Administrator or educator for more information on this choice.
