THANK YOU!!!! WRJH PTO's Caring Closet
A HUGE thank you to our students, families, staff and community who donated to the WRJH PTO Caring Closet…we are overwhelmed from the support from each and every one of you who donated from our requested items list! The Caring Closet has been up and running for the last two weeks and so many of our students have been able to shop for their self and their family for items that they need. It has truly been a positive experience for everyone and we have YOU to thank!!
The WRJH Caring Closet is sponsored by PTO and contains hygiene products for students in need. Students are able to confidentially pick items that they need. Our hope is that it will ultimately help with the student’s learning, improve their self-esteem and allow families to feel a small financial burden to be lifted.
Every child should have access to the basic needs of life so that they can focus on their education. At WRJH, 51% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. This means that over half of our study body may struggle to overcome many of the things taken for granted by others such as access to hygiene products, clothing, school supplies or other simple necessities. As a community, if we can assist those who are struggling to keep their focus on education, we will not only be improving the individual lives we touch, we will also be improving our overall community.
We are continuing to accept donations. The following is a list of items that you can contribute to the Caring Closet if you are interested. Items can be dropped off in the WRJH front office. We ask that all items be unopened, full-sized products. If you have questions, please email amber.knight@reyn.org.

Yearbook Photos
Students love seeing pictures of themselves and photos they have taken in the yearbook. Josten’s has an app which makes it very easy! The app allows you to upload photos which the staff can then enter in the yearbook. If you have pictures this is a great way to do it, picture of the app is below. They get put on our software nightly. If you have photos from dances, extra curricular activities and more that you would like to share please add them to the app!

NEW SCHOOL STORE HOURS
Our School Store has been up and running with the help of some great student employees and student managers! Every week, students may visit the store to spend their hard earned pendants that they receive in classes for being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and SAFE. Due to the heavy volume of customers, the store will be open to students every Tuesday during Zero Period. We will also keep our normal Thursday hours.
iReady Incentive Launched Building-wide
IReady is a tool that our RCS uses in grades K - 8 to help students in closing gaps in areas of Math and Language Arts. Waggoner Road Junior High School is proud to unveil a building-wide incentive to get students excited about logging on and passing lessons! Interested in learning more? Please follow the link below:

Attendance Policies/Information
In compliance with the Ohio General Assembly and House Bill 410, absences are no longer counted as how many days missed, but by how many hours of school missed. Therefore, if a student misses 38 or more hours within a given month, or 65 or more hours within the year, excused or unexcused, we are required to send a letter to notify you of the hours missed. Our notification is not a judgment on the reason for the absence, simply the application of the law. Our team – including your child’s teachers, social worker and building administrators – is here to partner with you on your child’s educational journey.
Please remember that you must report school absences for EACH DAY that your child is absent by contacting Mrs. Bobbi Butler at bbutler@reyn.org or calling 614-501-5700.

Meals on Wheels Partners with WRJH Students
Our school believes strongly in the importance of giving back to our community and beyond. We would like to offer your family the opportunity to participate in a unique service learning project. There is a strong need to provide meals for the elderly in Reynoldsburg. We have partnered with LifeCare Alliance’s Meals on Wheels program to help keep our aging neighbors in their homes...where they want to be. Our students have the opportunity to physically see the “good” they are doing for their community by handing over a hot meal to someone in need. WRJH has adopted a route of 6-8 seniors who we deliver hot meals to once a week. Parents or guardians will be asked to pick up meal containers at Parkview Presbyterian Church at 6969 E. Livingston Ave. The parent/guardian will then come and sign his or her child out for their lunch and recess period. Together, meals will be delivered. After meals are delivered, students are dropped back off to school, and the parent/guardian returns the empty meal containers to the church. Start to finish, this would take approximately 50 minutes. Depending on the number of interested families, you would be serving this route approximately once a month. If this is something you and your family might be interested in, please contact Ms. Knight at amber.knight@reyn.org. Once the group of new volunteers for the 18-19 school year is established, LifeCare Alliance will come to WJRH to conduct a one-hour training session so we can quickly get started on our mission!
