Andrew Jackson

Hero or Zero?..... total ZERO

Why he's a ZERO

#1 Andrew Jackson is a zero because he caused the Trail of Tears. The Trail of Tears is when the U.S. army removed the Native Americans from the land that they lived on. During this trip thousands of Cherokee Indians died including the elderly, toddlers, and even newborns. #2 When Andrew Jackson was president he used the spoil system. The spoil system is a way someone in authority hires supporters or relatives for government job who are not qualified and will more than likely tell him yes all the time. #3 Another reason he's a zero is because when he finally died in 1845 he owned 150 slaves.

King Andrew

Andrew Jackson was sometimes called King Andrew. He was called this because in every way possible he used his power to get what he wanted. He wanted to use his power to be the strongest president. He would sometimes use his power to do stuff that wasn't the right thing to do. Just like when he used his power to ignore the bill to let the Indians stay in their land.

Andrew Jackson: Good, Evil, and the Presidency
In 1832 the Supreme Court ruled the Worcester vs. Georgia case closed. They ruled in favor of the Cherokee Indians. They said that the Cherokee people were a "sovereign nation", and that Georgia could not interfere. Despite this ruling Andrew Jackson ignored the Supreme Courts ruling and allowed Georgia to remove the Cherokee people.
