It's Finally Starting To Feel A Little Cooler

We are excited about the idea of the weather finally starting to feel a little more like Fall. As the temperatures drop we generally will have safety patrol members who begin to want to stay inside because of the colder temperatures. Due to this, we ask that if your child regularly opens their own door to get out of the car at home, shopping, etc that they also do this in the mornings in the car line. This will allow us to move cars quickly through the line so that parents can get to work on time. Your help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for your help!!

Chaperones for LES

Yay! Our students love field trips where they have the opportunity to study outside of the classroom. We LOVE our volunteers, especially our chaperones! We wanted to share a few guidelines for all chaperones for any field trip to help make each trip the best experience possible. Your help with these are greatly appreciated!!

1. District procedures require that all volunteers have a volunteer application form on file with the school’s Volunteer Services Coordinator and have a background check completed before becoming a chaperone. The district also requires that a field trip chaperone be at least 19 years of age. The link to complete the background check is https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NjY0OmVuLVVT. A link in Spanish is also available at https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NjY0OmVzLVVT

2. Please leave other children at home. The students assigned to your group will need your full attention during the entire field trip.

3. Familiarize yourself with the general instructions given to the students prior to the field trip and enforce these instructions throughout the trip.

4. The students in your assigned group are your responsibility. Know exactly how many students are in your group and learn their names and faces. Be sure that all are present before moving from one place to another.

5. Always be safety conscious. You are responsible for the continuous monitoring of your group’s activities.

6. Please be on time for designated meeting places and departure.

7. For the protection of both students and chaperones, do not place yourself in situations in which you are alone with a student.

8. Please do not purchase items or provide opportunities that are not offered to all students in the class or pre-approved by the teacher.

9. Please be aware that some students have photo restrictions; this means their parents have formally re‐ quested they not be photographed at school or school activities. If you take photos, verify that students you photograph do not have photo restrictions; teachers have this information. Please, please do not post photos of students on your personal social media.

10. To ensure that you are able to devote your full attention to the important responsibilities of chaperon‐ ing, restrict cell phone use to emergencies only.

11. Sensitive information you may learn about a student’s abilities, relationships, or background must be kept confidential.

Thank you again for your help with these guidelines and THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and chaperones!! :)
