If you're not sure what you're missing, please reach out to Mrs. Dewey or look at the Destiny app through Clever. 8th graders: if you don't get your missing items back before the summer, a bill will be mailed home, and the record will follow you to GHS until it is settled. Pursuant to the Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia, middle school students enrolled in a high school class may request that the grades be omitted from the student’s transcript and the student not earn high school credit for the course. If you are interested in pursuing this option for your child, please complete the information needed on this form so that the principal may authorize your request.
In considering this option, parents and students need to be aware of the following: ● Once removed, a course cannot be reinstated.
● Once a course and grade are removed, there will be no evidence on the child’s transcript that the course was ever taken and no reason why the grade was removed.
● When a course with an associated SOL is removed from the academic record, any verified credit earned will not be applied towards high school graduation requirements unless the student retakes the removed course and earns a passing grade.
● Students will not meet the prerequisite for the next instructional level in any area in which a high school course is removed. For example, a student requesting to drop a French I class taken in 8th grade will not be eligible to go onto French II in his 9th grade year without first retaking French I.
Please complete this form and submit it to the GMS Counseling Office. The form can be emailed to tdavis@glnd.k12.va.us or dropped off in the Main Office.
