Schmucker PTO Newsletter
February 2019
From the President
To get through the winter months, I find myself focusing on plans for spring. The PTO is planning for spring too, specifically the 6th and 7th grade field trips to Medieval Times and the Museum of Science and Industry. We are proud to be supporting these trips and making them more affordable for families, but we could not do it without you and your support of our fundraiser. Right now, Sandy Duffield and Cindy Basil are coordinating the Let Loose Your Lincolns fundraiser. We ask parents/guardians to make a donation, and we hope students will get involved by participating in activities to earn advisory class points. Last year, the winning advisory class enjoyed a celebratory breakfast and taped Mr. Fry to the wall. The fun continues this year with more prizes available. Details were sent home with students, were posted on the PTO Facebook page and appear in this newsletter. Thank you for your participation!
In addition to Sandy and Cindy, I would like to thank Tina Hunter for keeping the planters by the school's front entrance looking great, as well as Courtney Eiler and her many Staff Appreciation volunteers who provided a wonderful dessert spread for SMS staff before winter break. Also, many thanks to Jill Harms and her army of volunteers for running the Poinsettia Sales to help students earn money for their Washington, D.C. eighth grade trip. And thank you to Renee Becker for coordinating winter spirit wear sales and Holly Bailey for setting up the Restaurant Night at Portillo's.
Read on for ways that you can help the PTO yet this school year, and consider serving on the PTO board or as a committee chair next year. We will be forming a nominating committee to fill open positions for 2019-20. Please let us know how you would like to help.
With Spartan Pride,
Linnea Lannon

Staff Appreciation
We are going to show we adore our wonderful teachers and staff this Valentine's Day by offering a sweets table. We are in need of volunteers to send in food items. All items need to be sent into the main office by 10 am on Thursday, February 14th. Feel free to send items in with your student if it is easier. Thank you for your contributions!
