Melissa High School Choir Students Selected to Perform in UIL Region 25 Choir
Congratulations to four Melissa High School Choir students who performed in the Texas Music Educators Association and UIL Music Region 25 Choir on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023. These students were selected from over 900 students in Region 25 who auditioned for a spot in the choir. Freshman Robin Davis and junior Noelle Pletcher were selected to perform with the Region Treble Choir, and freshmen Fallon Morris and Zeke Vest were selected to perform with the 9/10 Honor Choir. Melissa ISD Hosts Newcomer Tour for Emergent Bilingual Families
Parents and guardians of students enrolled in the Melissa ISD Emergent Bilingual program recently participated in a Newcomers Tour organized by Melissa ISD staff and Community Liaison, Edith Maciel. Participants were treated to a personalized tour, which included visits to all Melissa ISD campuses and Coach Kenny Deel Stadium, as well as key community locations such as the Post Office, Library, and City Hall. At City Hall, they had the opportunity to meet with Mayor Jay Northcut and Police Chief Erik Stokes, fostering a direct connection with community leaders.

Road to State: Varsity Football Competes at Bi-District Playoffs
The Melissa Cardinals will face Whitehouse in the Bi-District round of the football playoffs at 7:30 on Nov. 10 at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium. Elementary GT Referral Period Now Open
Melissa ISD parents and guardians who wish to have their elementary school student (grades K-5)) tested for placement in the Gifted/Talented Services program must complete the referral process during the elementary school referral period, open November 1-30, 2023. After testing, qualifying students are placed into GT the following school year. To learn more and access the GT referral form, visit www.melissaisd.org/gt.

Sit With Us is a monthly discussion group to address concerns, ask questions and determine ways to collectively work toward solutions with your child’s campus administration. The philosophy of Sit With Us is that Melissa parents are Cardinal Champions who see the best for not only their students but for all students.
