Characteristics of Living things

Six Kingdoms

Archaebacteria

Archaebacteria is known to live in extreme environments. Archaebacteria is Unicellular which means they only have one cell and they can have a cell wall or a cell membrane. They are also prokaryotic which means that they don't have a nucleus. Archaebacteria are autotrophs which means they produce their own food. Archaebacteria reproduces Asexually, (which means they only have one parent), and they are mobile which means they can move around.

Eubacteria

Eubacteria are prokaryotic so they don't have a nucleus. Eubacteria are unicellular which means that they only have one cell. Eubacteria can only have a cell wall, they don't have a cell membrane. Eubacteria can be both autotrophs or heterotrophs, autotrophs make their own food, heterotrophs can't. They reproduce asexually which means they only have one parent. Eubacteria are stationary so they can't move. Eubacteria can live anywhere that isn't classified as an extreme environment.

Protists

Protists are eukaryotic which means that they have a nucleus. Protists are unicellular so they only have one cell. Protists have a cell membrane, but not a cell wall. They can be either an autotroph or a heterotroph. Protists reproduce sexually which means that they have two parents. Protests can be stationary or mobile. Protests are known to live in environments with water.

Fungi

Fungi are eukaryotic which means that they have a nucleus. Fungi can be both unicellular or multicellular. Fungi have a cell wall, but they don't have a cell membrane. Fungi are heterotroph which means they can't make their own food, but they need to find it. Fungi can reproduce sexually or asexually. Fungi are stationary which means they don't move. Fungi can live in environments with soil, water, animals, etc.

Plants

Plants are eukaryotic which means that they have a nucleus. Plants are multicellular which means they have more than one cell. Plants have a cell wall, they don't have a cell membrane. Plants are autotrophs which means that they make their own food. Plants can reproduce sexually or asexually. Plants are stationary organisms which means they don't move at all. Plants habitats are on land which means they can't survive in water.

Animals

Animals are eukaryotic which means they have a nucleus. Animals are multicellular which means they have more than one cell. Animals have a cell membrane, but they don't have a cell wall. Aminals are heterotrophs which means they need to find food to survive. Animals can reproduce sexually or asexually. Animals are mobile which means they can move around. Animals can live in environments with water, air, and land.
