MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
Dear Mariano Castro Parents,
There are many opportunities for students to attend additional support classes or enrichment classes at Castro. For Enrichment the Mistral PTA is beginning the second sessions of Afterschool Classes and these classes are all open to Castro students as well! Sign-ups are this week; contact our office if you would like help signing up through the online system or come to the PTA tables in the morning.
Look in your child's backpack daily for notices from school regarding tutoring opportunities. The teachers and other school staff have offered several different opportunities. The latest class to begin is the morning Lexia class for 3rd and 4th grade. This is for every student in those grades as this program provides support for every student whether they are on grade level or below grade level. Siblings are welcome as well so you can drop all your children off at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.
Best Regards,
Theresa Lambert
Principal Mariano Castro Elementary

FROM THE PTA
Box Tops Submission
Thank you all for collecting and turning in so many Box Tops for Education! This was a great effort to collect, clip, and prepare all of the coupons for redemption. We turned in 1,550 Box Tops and 270 points in Bonus Box Tops Certificates. Castro will receive a check for $182.00 thanks to these coupons. Please keep clipping and collecting! Our next submission deadline is in the spring. Don’t forget to ask your family members, friends, and neighbors to collect them for your child’s school.
Would you like to be on the Box Tops Collection Committee? You can help Castro by clipping and preparing the Box Tops coupons at home, in your spare time. The School Coordinator will calculate the submission and Castro will receive the funds raised. If you can help clip the coupons, please contact Evelyn or Vanessa in the Office. They can put you in contact with the School Coordinator to get you started. Three or four parents are needed for this committee.
Labels for Education
As you may have heard, the Labels for Education program is ending. Keep clipping and turning in these precious coupons. Labels for Education are found on many Campbell’s foods, BIC Products, Pepperidge Farms snacks, and many other products. Look inside your cabinets to find them on cans, bags, and packages. The committee has plans to redeem them for playground equipment that the students can use during recess and in P.E. Classes. Please turn all Labels for Education in to Castro School by December 15, 2017. You can place them in the Box Tops for Education collection bin in your student’s classroom or drop them off at the Office. Thank you for making this fundraiser great for this school!
PTA Association Meeting
The second PTA Meeting is coming soon. There are only five meetings each school year, so please plan to attend next Wednesday on November 15th in the MUR. Snacks, childcare, and interpretation in Spanish will be provided. Our new PTA President, William Buitron, will lead our meeting about many topics. We hope to see you there.
