Navigating Emotionally Intense Conversations With Your Child
Presented by Dr. Eran Magen
Moderated by Mrs. Pedersen, Pine Run and Mr. Cochran, Bridge Valley Elementary
The Pine Run and Bridge Valley School Communities are proud to present an evening of conversation around that which is most important to us all, our children's social and emotional wellness. Understanding our children's emotions and navigating how we can best support and empower them can be difficult. Dr. Magen is here to offer his expertise and advice for creating and maintaining strong healthy relationships with our children.
Trying to offer support when your child is experiencing strong emotions like stress, frustration, anxiety or anger can feel like tiptoeing through a minefield. In this interactive workshop, Dr. Magen will share parenting techniques to help you be more effective and more relaxed when supporting your child. Dr. Magen will review practical techniques for helping your child feel heard and cared for, so your child can feel better and think more clearly - all while strengthening your relationship.
Eran Magen, PhD, teaches parents, educators, and clinicians how to form stronger, more supportive relationships in their personal and professional lives. Dr. Magen received his M.A. in education and Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University, and served as the research director for the department of Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Pennsylvania. For more information and parent resources, visit http://ParentingForHumans.com.
This conversation will be virtual. There will be time to ask questions. A link to join this event will come in the days prior to the event.
We look forward to seeing you then.

"Can my child who is in-person attend virtually?"
There are sometimes questions about when students who attend in-person learning may participate virtually. Below are some clarifications on when students may participate virtually:
- Virtual streaming is for prolonged illness and COVID related absences. This could include:
- Waiting for test results
- Close contact
- Positive case
- Required quarantine
- It is not for while the child is on vacation
- It is not for a one or two day “cold” absence
- It may not start on day 1 of your child's time at home
We believe that teachers are most effective for all students when they focus solely on the children seated in front of them; therefore, we seek to limit the circumstances under which they are streaming live instruction while simultaneously teaching in-person students.
Many teachers will need to take that first day to prepare materials and links for your child, while some may already be streaming. Please be patient with your child's teacher and the front office as we navigate the many unique circumstances we are faced with each day with each new situation.
Thank you.
Amazon Smiles
Our Bridge Valley Home and School Association has had limited opportunities for fundraising this year, and sadly the Giant Rewards program has changed and no longer provides us with a steady source of passive fundraising. For these reasons, we urge you to utilize Amazon Smiles when ordering from Amazon. This is an easy way to support our HSA and help our school. It's especially simple when using the Amazon app. Please consider setting this up today to support our Home and School.
Shop at smile.amazon.com and Amazon will donate directly to Bridge Valley Elementary.

How to Properly Wear a Face Mask
*If your child needs a mask, the office staff, nurse and teachers have masks available. All CB students also received a cloth mask in December, free of charge, to use as well.
