October 2014 Update
Hi Troop 2209 Parents!
Today, we worked on the Girl Scout Law, Responsible for What I Say and Do. Our host was Cyndi Brillhart--thank you, Cyndi!
Highlights of this month's meeting:
Highlights of this month's meeting:
- We focused on having the girls get to know one another by playing together at the playground
- We also went over some Girl Scout basics, such as learning songs and practicing the Promise and Law--we noticed that now that our girls can all read, they are interested in reading the Promise and Law out loud.
- Started using our kaper chart and dividing meeting responsibilities amongst our girls
- The story of Juliette Gordon Low was read--it is her birthday on October 31st
- The girls made a birthday card for Juliette Gordon Low
- The orange petal was earned
Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 18th, right after school. Leah & Susan are the hosts.
Iron on the Orange Daisy Petal
Our girls earned the orange petal for learning about the Girl Scout Law, Responsible for What I Say and Do. Please reinforce this Law by reading this story at home, the Mari the Marigold story: here.
Please note: if your child attended the Halloween costume collection or donated a costume, they have earned the Rose petal--this is for new troop members.

Happy Birthday to Juliette Gordon Low
Juliette's birthday is on October 31st. We made a birthday card that will be mailed to Savannah, Juliette Gordon Low's birthplace, which is also a Girl Scouts national center. Here is her story: click here.
Making cards for Juliette Gordan Low
Mariangel's mom helped us, too. Thank you, Zully!
With friends from Horizon Bay
The woman seated raised three Girl Scouts. She participated in the Girl Scout Promise with us.
Learning the Friendship Circle--they wanted to try it twice! This is how we end our meetings

The Girl Scout Promise and Law
The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
