Blood Drive
The KAY club ran their annual Fall Blood Drive. This event was organized by KAY board members Emma Miller and Patrick Wong. Student and community members had the chance to donate blood and save lives through the Community Blood Center. We had 34 donors able to donate and that blood will be distributed to local area hospitals. We had the following:
- 19 Whole blood donors
- 6 2RBC donors (here is the red cross explanation “Power Red is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you.”) Getting about 12 pints.
- We collected about 31 pints which saves approximately 93 lives!
- 13 first time donors.
Congrats Heisman High School Scholarships
Congrats Mr. Hodges - This week's Staff Spotlight
We're excited to share with you all the great things our staff members do for our students. This week's staff spotlight is Mr. Hodges.
Mr. Hodges is selected as the October Staff Member of the Month by the Student Leadership group.. Mr. Hodges connects well with students. His teaching style meets students where they are and gets them involved in the subject. His CCR class is interactive and supportive. The students say "he was a great para last year and we're happy he's been awesome as a teacher this year."
Each week we'll thank a staff member in our Weekly Update. If you would like to nominate a staff member for the great things they are doing for our school, please email the information to alan.penrose@usd469.net.
Congrats Lansing Debate!
