East Knox County Elementary News
February 2019
Principals' Corner
We are working to bring the school family news to you in a better electronic form. Thanks to all our families who voted in our poll last month about paper versus electronic newsletters. About 81% of families prefer electronic newsletters while 19% of our families would prefer a paper copy. This month we are trying out a new program for generating an easier to read electronic newsletter form. Please vote again here to help us make good decisions about our newsletter delivery: https://goo.gl/forms/xT1pzJyNszhu90qT2. We appreciate your feedback.
We are also excited that many grade levels will be out in the community representing East Knox County Elementary this month. Check out our Coming Soon events listed below. We know that our East Knox Cougars will do a great job representing our school as they visit in our community.
The photos below show some of the fun things that have happened at East Knox this month. We always enjoy celebrating important milestones with our students.
We are a school community where COUGARS CARE about each other! Remember to read 20 minutes each night.
Warmly,
Mrs. Woods and Mrs. Morrell

The Leader in Me: Bringing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to Our School Family
Have you ever wondered what teachers do on the Staff Inservice Days? This semester our entire East Knox Staff has been learning about "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey. These proven personal leadership habits are based on timeless principles of effectiveness. The habits are:
1) Be Proactive
2) Begin with the End in Mind
3) Put First Things First
4) Think Win-Win
5) Seek First to Understand then to be Understood
6) Synergize
7) Sharpen the Saw.
As a staff, we are learning to be more effective people personally and professionally so that we can provide the best educational experience for our students. You might see and hear some of this language being used around the school, see it on a bulletin board, or when you talk to teachers.
