A Thought to Ponder...

FAIL = First Attempt In Learning

Units of Study

Math: We are in the midst of our measurement unit. Students have been measuring objects to the nearest half-inch and quarter-inch. Next week, we are moving on to weight and will be measuring objects in grams and kilograms. When we return from spring break, we will wrap up our unit with liquid capacity.

Reading: Next week, we will be finishing up our novel study of The Green Book. Students are dying to see how this exciting science fiction novel will end! After spring break, we will begin some poetry.

Writing: We are continuing with our current writing unit theme of service animals. This has been a very informative unit thus far. Students are learning all about the vital roles these unique animals play in the lives of those with various disabilities and/or limitations. We have also been practicing for the upcoming ACT Aspire writing test that students will take on April 28th. This is a timed 30-minute assessment. Students will have 30 minutes to respond to a narrative writing prompt to the best of their ability.

Genius Hour: Come one, come all to our very first ever Genius Hour parent presentations!! Students completed invitations on Monday and brought them home, so I hope you received yours. We will begin promptly at 10:00am on Friday, March 27th. We will go until all students have presented. I am not certain as to what time we will finish, but for the most part, presentations are lasting about 3-4 minutes during our practice sessions. The kiddos are SO excited and Ms. Newton and I hope you can make it!
