Hudson Hawk Band Updates

WELCOME BACK!!!!

We are so excited to start school on Monday! It has been such a long time since we've been together in person and gotten to do all of the "normal" band activities. We are planning for all of them this year and we just can't wait to start. If you are new to the Hawk Band family, welcome! You and your student will love it at Hudson and will love being a part of this family. We are thrilled that you have chosen to join the band and have big things planned for you this year.


You will receive a weekly Smore with updates for the band. Please make time to read through them and keep up with what we are doing and working on in class. You can always contact us with questions or concerns and we look forward to meeting with all of you soon!

Morning/Afternoon Procedures

No band students need to bring band instruments to school on the first day.

**We will ALL bring instruments/band supplies for the first time on Tuesday, August 3.**


When students arrive at school in the morning (starting on Tuesday) they will come straight to the band hall to drop off their instrument and band binder. After putting their instrument in their locker, they will report straight to their 1st period class. If they are eating breakfast, they will make a stop at the cafeteria to pick up their food before going to their 1st period class.

**STUDENTS MUST BE WEARING THEIR SOAR CARD WITH THEIR BAND PASS INSIDE THE POCKET TO BE ALLOWED DOWN TO THE BAND HALL BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL.**


At the end of the day, students will come down to the band hall at dismissal to pick up their instrument and band binder to take it home and practice each night. If your student is a car rider, you are welcome to pick up your student in the back of the building, where the band hall exit is. **It is less crowded at pickup in the back - take advantage of being in the band!**

Shirt Sizes THIS WEEK!

We will be ordering our 2021-2022 Hudson Band t-shirts next week and want to make sure we order the correct size for everyone. We will collect student sizes this Thursday in class. Please make sure your student knows their t-shirt size (Youth S - Adult 2XL).

Lockers/Locks

All band students will be issued a locker to store their band instrument and band binder in during the school day. We have locks available for any student who wants to use one this year. It will be optional to use a lock, however, we will not be responsible for items that go missing or are damaged from a locker being used without a lock.

WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE ALL STUDENTS TO USE A LOCK!

If you would like to use your own lock, you are free to do so. You will need to provide the band directors with a copy of the key or the combination if you choose to use your own lock.

Band Binders Distributed This Week

All students will receive their new band binder this week. We will be taking grades on the organization of the band binders from time to time. Please help your student stay organized and remind them to put their papers in the rings and behind the correct divider.

**ALL REQUIRED BAND HANDBOOK FORMS AND A 2021-2022 PERFORMANCE CALENDAR IS IN THE HANDOUT SECTION OF EVERY BINDER.** These forms are due by Friday, August 13 for a grade.

Returning Band Parent Meeting

Tuesday, Aug. 10th, 6pm

Returning Band parent meeting begins at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. We will discuss everything you need to know about band this year and all of the things we get to do again, collect required handbook forms and fees, and answer any questions you may have.

New Band Parent Meeting

Thursday, Aug. 12th, 6pm

4405 Hudson Drive

Sachse, TX

All new band parents should attend our meeting at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. We will discuss band policies and procedures, let you know exactly what events we have planned for the year, collect forms and fees, and answer your questions.

The password for first time users is your student's GISD ID number (should be 6 digits)

For non-first time users, your password should be your student's ID with "s" in front (i.e. s123456) unless you've changed it to something else.

Please update contact information, check your student's birthday, gender, ID, instrument, etc. and make changes as necessary. If you have questions or have difficulty logging in, please contact Mrs. Becker.
