A Message from Jyoti
Dear Bellerose Families,
I hope all of you are well and looking forward to a lovely summer! I know it has been quite a while since you've heard from me, but I know that Bellerose has been in the very capable and caring hands of Dawn Rothwell, Mike Thompson, Jennifer Bruinsma, and Cam Leverman since I have been on medical leave.
As many of you know, cancer treatment is hard. It also gives you lots of time to think about life...and your family, your friends, your career, and your colleagues. I am immensely grateful to St. Albert Public Schools for the opportunity to have had a career that has been fulfilling both professionally and personally and, with that gratitude in my heart, I have decided that I won't be returning to Bellerose. It is hard to say out loud, but I know it is the right choice for myself and my family.
Bellerose is an excellent school filled with remarkable people and I am so very proud of my colleagues and our students. I especially want to wish Dawn Rothwell the very best in her new role as principal of Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary. Dawn has been there for me and for Bellerose during both of my cancer journeys and I am excited for her new adventure.
I am also very happy to welcome Peter Fenton as the new principal of Bellerose. Many of you may know Peter from WD Cuts and Muriel Martin. Before he came to St. Albert Public, Peter was a high school English teacher, so Bellerose is going to be in the very capable hands of a principal who has teaching and administration experience from kindergarten all the way through to grade 12. I am extending a hearty welcome to Peter -- welcome to the Bulldog family!
As I've said hundreds of times to others: once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
Thank you to all of our Bellerose families for your support over the years and for trusting me with your kids.
xo,
Jyoti

As we close the chapter on this school year, celebrating our graduates and soon-to-be programme alumni boastfully before we do, I am most interested in gathering your feedback regarding your experience with the IB programme at Bellerose. To help influence our planning for next year, I am looking to garner parent and student perspectives regarding where to focus our programme improvement efforts. A significant part of the IB philosophy is to engage with parent and student voices to better the whole community. Please keep an eye out for a survey designed to explore your experience in your email inbox. If you have a moment, please kindly fill it out. Furthermore, at any time, if you would like to talk any and all things IB, please email me at ibc@spschools.org. Until then, I wish you all the best over the summer and look forward to seeing you again in September.

A Message from our Superintendent
Dear St. Albert Public Families:
We are moving towards the final weeks of the school year, and all the excitement that brings. This year, it is also bringing a few challenges for our school division, including shortages in substitute teacher and educational assistant availability.
As you may be aware, we have been given a very short timeframe within which to learn, plan and obtain resources for the implementation of the new curriculum for the fall. This now requires intensive professional development sessions for our teaching staff, pulling them from the classroom. We also continue to experience higher than average staff absences due to illness. These two factors have left us short of substitutes. Our schools have been creative in how they cover these shortages and we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure the continuity and quality of your children's education.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges.
