A Note from the Principal
With spring rapidly approaching, we know that students will want to socialize with one another outside of school. I want to reiterate the importance of mask wearing, hand sanitizing/washing, and social distancing as much as possible in the remaining months of school. This is the support we need from our school community in order to reduce quarantines and keep all students in the responsive program in school as much as possible. Additionally, there are a few points that I'd like to make today.
- There is no COVID-19 outbreak at Hixson Middle School.
- If you have questions about quarantines or other information pertaining to Hixson, the best place to get your answers is straight from the source. Please feel free to reach out to me or other staff members to get your questions answered.
- We will follow the St. Louis County Health Department's guidelines for isolations and quarantines until we are told otherwise.
- Individual schools do not set the health and safety guidelines, nor do we have the power to change the guidelines.
- We appreciate parents being kind to us when we have to call you to initiate a quarantine. Quarantines are not ideal for anyone, especially our students. We have been charged with the tremendous responsibility of keeping all students and staff safe during a global pandemic. We appreciate your patience and grace during this extremely difficult time.
- Our teachers are truly amazing. They are working very hard and appreciate your kind words whenever you can offer them.
Thank you for your continued support of Hixson Middle School!

Hixson Middle School Parent-Teacher Conference Dinner
Parent-teacher conferences are just around the corner and that means long days ahead for our teachers. Every year the PTO organizes an evening meal for the faculty and staff during parent-teacher conferences. This spring we will be serving tamales from the Tamale Man, beverages, snacks, and cookies for a quick meal on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. We need your help to make this all possible.
This year, due to Covid 19, the PTO will purchase all of the food and beverages for the meal. If you would like to help out, please contribute digitally through the PTO PayPal Link. We will also receive cash and check donations. Please bring any donations to the front office – folks in the office will place the money into an envelope for the PTO meal fund! Please mark your envelope "PTO Conference Meal Money".
Thank you for your generosity in supporting our teaching staff at Hixson Middle School!
With Gratitude,
Hixson Middle School PTO
SIgn Up for Parent Teacher Conferences
Hixson’s Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences are March 16 and 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm via Zoom meetings. There is not as much time allotted for spring conferences as there is for fall conferences. Therefore, if you recently had a meeting with your child's teachers and/or do not have any concerns you need to discuss with your child’s teachers, we ask that you refrain from signing up for a conference at this time.
To sign up for a conference, please visit the following site:

Meet & Eat - Statesmen Do Lunch!
The Hixson counselors would like to invite our virtual students to “Meet and Eat: Statesmen Do Lunch!” Meet and Eat will be a weekly lunch that is held for our virtual students via Zoom. Our purpose is to help students with support and also give them time to socialize and play games with peers that are also virtual. The meetings will be held during all lunches on every Wednesday of the month and will begin next Wednesday on February 10th. Feel free to join with snacks or a meal for lunchtime.
Please also indicate your interest in participating by submitting this form to us. Parents, if you are filling out this form for your child, please respond to the questions as if you were your child. We will send the Zoom link to all students who sign up, so please sign up ASAP!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Del’Brica Flowers (flowers.delbrica@wgmail.org) or Christy Keating (keating.christy@wgmail.org).
