K-6 Math Assessment: January 19 – Feb. 4

For: Elementary Teachers

District Elementary Math Interims will be administered three times per year at each grade-level. The window for the MOY Growth Measure Assessment, taken on the Into Math platform, will be open Jan. 19 – Feb 4. All K – 6 students, including those in DLI programs, should participate in this assessment (Kindergarten teachers, please refer to GMA information in your grade-level pacing guide and work with your administrator regarding this assessment). PLEASE NOTE: Because there have been updates to the Into Math platform, please follow the attached instructions to assign the Growth Measure Assessment.

LETRS Unit 3 MIDAS Registration Deadline

Unit 3 training is scheduled for our next PD day on February 22. Sections are open on MIDAS for registration. Use course code 60075 to register. Please register by February 18. If you need to attend a make-up session for Unit 1, there are a few more opportunities to do so. The last Unit 1 make-up will be held at the end of February. Use code 60068 to register. If you were unable to attend Unit 2 on Jan. 18, please use code 60077 to find a make-up section. Camp Big Springs Teachers Needed

For: All Teachers

After a two-year absence due Covid, Camp Big Springs, Provo City School District’s fifth grade camp, is returning this year and is looking for teachers.


Camp Big Springs is a week long (Monday – Friday) experience for fifth graders who are entering sixth grade. Camp takes place over four sessions in June and is located in South Fork Canyon (20 minutes from Provo). Teachers at camp spend the week in the great outdoors with an awesome group of kids, going on hikes, teaching outdoor skills, crafts, and STEM classes. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for teachers and students that they won’t ever forget.


Apply now to join this close knit family of teachers and become the next generation of Camp Big Springs. We especially need teachers for the girls’ tents.

3rd Grade Science Storylines PD

For: 3rd Grade Teachers

Hey 3rd Grade Teachers! You are invited to attend a 3rd grade Science Storyline PD. You will be given access to lesson plans for all the new Science Standards. Teachers who attend will have a chance to win prizes and each teacher who attends will receive Science Supplies (worth ~$1000- delivered later).

ESP of the Year Award

It’s that time of year to submit ESP of the Year Nominations. For the next 2 months, we (PESPA) will be collecting nominations for ESP of the year. If you know a secretary, custodian, technology, maintenance, transportation, paraprofessional, or child nutrition worker, that has gone above and beyond and that you think should receive this award, nominate them!

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) officially launched the allocation of $12 million in COVID-19 relief funds to directly help K-12 public school educators get classroom resources for the school year through DonorsChoose, a nonprofit crowdfunding website. Learn more and apply today. Many Provo teachers have already had their requests approved!

Bite-sized PD: Google Calendar

I know, I know. We all use Google Calendars already! But this is a core tool that all of use in the district and there may be some ways to make things a lot easier for yourself, your students and their families, your staff or work teams, and others you interact with. Learn to create multiple calendars, make calendars public and allow people to subscribe to your calendars.

What's Your CTE Story

What does CTE mean to you? February is CTE month, and we would love to know how our programs have affected you, your students, and your classrooms! We are passionate about our work and we know that the students in our district are greatly benefiting from everyone's efforts to enrich their lives and prepare them for the work environment. Give us your story, and we could feature you and your classroom on the district website. CTE would like to reach out to those who had CTE memories to share their experience in CTE. Committee Meeting Reports

For: All Teacers

The District Science Committee met January 24, 2022. They were updated on kits delivered for 4th and 5th grade and discussed a scheduled PD for 3rd grade coming up in March. They had a discussion about coaching and the impact of coaching on teaching.


The District World Languages Committee also met on January 24. They started reviewing the World Language curriculum notebook for all the languages taught in the district. Each language is creating a document to report their findings.

Suicide Prevention Training for License Renewal

For: All Teachers

PCSD’s approved Suicide Prevention Course will be the course offered by USBE. We will no longer offer the Face to Face course. Learn more on the Employee Website.
