INTRODUCING

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Christina Steinbacher-Reed as the new Executive Director of BLaST IU 17. Christina brings with her a passion for providing educational services to families, schools and communities through our four-county region. With 20 years in the field of education, Dr. Steinbacher-Reed has an extensive background in teaching and leading.

A graduate of Muncy High School, Christina went on to complete her undergraduate work at Lebanon Valley College where she later earned her Master’s degree in Science Education. She continued her post-graduate work at Temple University with a focus on school leadership. Christina went on to earn her doctorate in educational leadership though Drexel University.

Prior to assuming the role of Executive Director, Dr. Steinbacher-Reed served as the Director for Professional Learning and Curriculum for BLaST IU 17. Before joining the IU 17 team in 2011, Dr. Steinbacher-Reed served as a district administrator, instructional coach, and classroom teacher. She has experience in urban, suburban, and rural settings across Pennsylvania.

Throughout her career, Christina has been recognized at both the state and national level for her work in the areas of professional learning and leadership. Her collaborative work with school districts has been published in Educational Leadership (ASCD 2011, 2013, 2017). Dr. Steinbacher-Reed is the recipient of two Fulbright Awards which provided her with the opportunity to examine the educational practices of Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Christina currently resides in Williamsport, PA with her husband, Michael, and their two children.
