Biography
Eric Carle was born on June 25, 1929. He is an illustrator and writer of children's books. He is most famous for The very hungry caterpillar. This picture book has been translated into 58 different languages and has also sold more than 38 million copies. This book was illustrated in 1969, and was the first more than 70 other short stories. More than 125 million copies of his books have been sold around the world. He also won the biennial Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for his career contribution to American children's literature in 2003.
