Mr. Posick's Friday email

January 20, 2017

It's half time!

I know that it's hard to believe, but today is half time of our school year. You would be proud of your children's hard work, attitude, and behavior this year. I know that I am. Our staff continues to do a terrific job meeting the needs of our students and engaging them in lessons that stretch their thinking. Now it's time to start out the second half of the year with a powerful focus on learning, set some goals, and finish the year strong.

Follett Challenge grant

Merton School District is participating in the Follett Challenge. The Follett Challenge is a grant opportunity that is put out by the Follett organization. The challenge involves making a video about a program at your school to be judged against schools from around the country. 20% of our final score is based on People's Choice points awarded through online polling. Please take a moment to vote between Monday, January 23 and Friday, January 27 using this weblink: and vote for Merton School's video. Your vote will help us win!

Spreading kindness in our school

Thanks to the guidance of Mr. Pomeroy, our 8th grade Health students have been spreading positivity throughout the building. There are posters in the halls and notes on lockers. There is also an occasional treat for staff in the lounge. Thanks to our 8th graders for sharing their message of kindness to our school. Check out some of the pictures below.

I need your help!

Our back parking lot, the one off of Main Street, is becoming quite dangerous. Students and staff alike come out the doors and often times the vehicles are moving quite quickly. I'm concerned that someone is going to get hit and seriously injured. If you use this back parking lot, please keep your speed to 10 miles an hour. I appreciate your assistance.

Grant from Meemic

Meemic, an insurance company just for educators, has a grant program to support schools. If you have the time and care to do so, here is a link for a chance at a $500 grant for supplies for our schools.

Thanks for your consideration.

Half day today and no school tomorrow
