A Message from the Administrative Team

Dear WJHS Families,

Summer is winding down and we are getting ready for the 2021-2022 school year! We are very much looking forward to welcoming your children back to school in a little more than a week!

Our team has been working around the clock to prepare the school for our students' arrival. As the installation of the 2nd floor air conditioning wraps up, our custodial staff is diligently (and quickly) cleaning the school and preparing it for opening. We are so grateful for their hard work!

We are planning for full in-person learning this fall at WJHS. We will continue to have some layered mitigation strategies to keep students and staff safe and healthy at school. Please tune into the Committee of the Whole Board Meeting on Wednesday, August 18, for more information on the plans the D39 School Board is approving for this fall. The meeting begins at 8:00 AM via Zoom. You can find more information at this link.

Beginning today, we will send a weekly communication - please continue checking your email for updates and to read the WJHS Highlights that come directly from our amazing PTO! While we attempt to keep the newsletters brief, there will be some that are more lengthy than others. The newsletter next week will include a lot of logistical information to start the school year, so please make sure to read through it with your child.

We hope you enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend and look forward to seeing you soon!

Jeff Dees, 7th Grade Level Administrator

Eric Resis, 8th Grade Level Administrator

Fall Athletics

Attention families:

WJHS athletics is looking forward to a great fall season. All sports practices and tryouts will start Thursday August 26th, the first full day of school. We will be offering 7/8 Girls volleyball, 7/8 Soccer, 7/8 Cross Country, and 7/8 Field Hockey. Please visit the WJHS athletics page for more information.

Placement Information and Schedules

Student placement will be emailed to families on Wednesday, August 18. Please look for this in your email inbox (junk/spam folder also!) and go through your child's schedule with him/her. All student schedules district-wide are emailed on Wednesday, which means that they slowly roll out to families in batches. This will result in some students receiving their schedules before others. If you have not received your child's placement/schedule email by 5:00 PM, please contact your grade level administrator.

Jeff Dees: 7th Grade Level Administrator;

Eric Resis: 8th Grade Level Administrator;

Due to complexities in scheduling, and the difficult work that it takes throughout the summer to ensure programming needs are met for all students, we are unable to honor any change requests. There is a substantial amount of thought and care put into each child's placement, and we are confident in the schedules that have been created for each of our students. Thank you for your help with this!

Seventh Grade Orientation

Seventh Grade families will find their child's detailed orientation information/time in the placement letter that arrives on August 18. We look forward to seeing you on August 20! All parents are welcome to stop by the white tent in front of the school between 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM to learn more about WJHS!
