Clarks Creek students have PRIDE!

Ensuring that ALL students carry themselves with pride and confidence beyond our doors as honorable, skillful learners and thinkers, ready to enrich our world.

SCHOOL GOALS - What will you do next week to get our students there?

  • 40% of all students who take the ISTEP assessment will earn the maximum number of points of each problem solving question. This is an increase of 2.9% over last year’s scores.

  • 80% of all students who take the ISTEP assessment will earn a score of 4, 5, or 6 on the Writing Applications six-point rubric. This is an increase of 3.6% over last year’s scores.
  • Current fourth grade students will increase scores by at least 3% in the subcategory of Algebra & Functions, scoring 88% or higher.
Dear Staff,

This week we began a series of district grade level meetings. It is the hope that these meetings will give you an opportunity to converse with your colleagues across the district to collectively address any issues that impact everyone. You have done an excellent job gathering thoughts and questions for discussion, and I think those will provide for fruitful conversations, as was demonstrated last night at our K-1 meetings.

Thanks for your constant professionalism and continued evaluation of our instruction, curriculum, and procedures in an effort to make things better and better for our students!

To-Do List

  1. Continue to add Marcy Cook math strategies into your plans. I'll be sending out some responses to the questions you posed at the end of our training in the next couple of days. Hopefully that will help your implementation. Ask for help if you need it!
  2. Please turn in any January field trip requests by Wednesday.
  3. Please note of the two upcoming alternate schedule days - Dec. 8 and Dec. 18.
  4. If you've changed phone numbers since the beginning of the year, please be sure that you've updated it in the office. If your number is not in PowerSchool, you won't get any emergency phone messages (i.e. 2-hour delays, etc.).

  • The building is beginning to be alive with the joy of Christmas, as seen through the eyes of our children.
  • Randa has done an outstanding job acclimating to the receptionist position for us!
  • Those who have moved into new positions in the building are adjusting well also.
  • Certified staff who earned an "effective" or "highly effective" rating on last year's evaluation received information about their performance stipend. Thanks, General Assembly!

  • The remaining ornaments containing items we can purchase to help the Thompson family after their fire are in the mail room. (You were so quick to take them, we didn't even get them put up on the intended tree!) If you'd like to contribute items in this manner, please select an ornament and have those items brought to school in wrapped packages by Dec. 17th.
  • We've begun to have some parent requests for students to stay in at recess. The student handbook addresses this on page B27. If a parent makes a request for a student to stay in because of illness, individual notes would need to be provided for each day, knowing that the student's condition may change from day to day. A request for more than three days would require a doctor's note (unless you make an exception in your own classroom).
  • Thanks to Misty for coordinating the "We Have PRIDE In Our Staff" addition to our website! You can see the first one the students picked out of the hat at the link below!

  • Nicki Johnson has returned as an instructional assistant. Welcome back, Nicki!
