What brings you JOY?
PLEASE HELP OUR SCHOOL!
Hello Families,
Your child brought home a Parent Information Envelope letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.
The SchoolStore fundraiser is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/cgi/SetSchool?SchoolID=0000363158&secheck=on
sign up.
School ID: 0000363158
2. Send form emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.
3. Return the Envelope with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.
Be sure to ask your child for the Parent Envelope tonight. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!
Thanks,
McGuire Elementary School
NO early drop off until 8:35am
If you drop off after 8:50, please be sure to come into the office to sign your student in for the day before leaving. If you drop off your student to come in without an adult, we will have to call you to come back and sign them in. Unless you sign your student in at the office, the tardy or absence will not be verified which could negatively impact the attendance record, leading to truancy. Thanks!

Cold Weather is HERE!
Please label your student's items
Use a permanent marker to label your child's name on lunchboxes, school supplies, backpacks, water bottles, child's clothes (utilize the inside tags of sweatshirts, jackets, shoes, and snowpants). We will periodically check labels and post pictures of items to be claimed - check out the McGuire Facebook page.
Send an extra pair of clothes to stay in your student's locker, place in a ziplock bag or plastic grocery bag, label with their name.
autism awareness & acceptance lessons with cmu
The lessons will occur monthly beginning this past week. They have been generously funded by the Organization for Autism Research. Lessons will include specific information regarding autism, including how to be aware of the needs of peers with autism, in addition to focusing on the acceptance of differences and similarities of all students.
In addition to the formal lessons, books about children with autism will be read to each class and these books will be donated to the school libraries at the end of the academic year for students to check out and share with family members and friends.
You may check out the following link for more details about the lessons: Kit for Kids | Organization for Autism Research (researchautism.org). If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact AnnMarie Bates at bates4al@cmich.edu or 989-774-5899.

Student Council Update
Community Care Month Update
HOOPS FOR HUNGER - Food items that were donated for Hoops for Hunger were counted at the last meeting and the winner was 5th grade who had 140 items donated! If students brought in items late, we took their donations to the Hoops for Hunger game last week. Hot cocoa supplies for all 5th grade classes were purchased for the winning grade level and students enjoyed a warm cup of cocoa with their teacher and classmates!
COINS FOR A CAUSE - There was only a 47 cents difference between first and second place but our winner was third grade who raised 116.35. 3rd Grade as a whole received an extra recess for their efforts. All of the third grade teachers were then entered into a drawing to win a pizza party for their class and the winner was Mrs. Northrop. Great job, Mustangs!
Community Service Projects
The next student council meeting will be spent making holiday cards to deliver to nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area. We are so excited to deliver and bring some JOY to area residents!
After break, the Student Council is going to sponsor a project to help Dalis to the Rescue, an aminal shelter in Alma. Our students are going to reach out to the shelter after break and see what the needs may be and then organize an effort from McGuire. Our Mustangs are on the Move, making a difference in our community!
Meal Magic-Add Money to your student's lunch account
Milk .75 cents
