Awards for Artastic, Band/Orchestra

It was a big week for Benton.

The Band and Orchestra competed in the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Festival last week; the Band earned an Excellent rating, and Orchestra earned unanimous Superior rating. Congratulations to Mr. Summers and the band and orchestra students!

Our spring musical, Newsies Jr., opened on Friday and will continue next weekend with evening performances at 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and a 2pm matinée on Saturday. Get your tickets now!

The City of Norwalk's Artastic event was Friday evening, and 16 Benton students swept the top awards for their works. See below for more details.

Course Request forms for 6th & 7th Graders were sent home last week in the Language Arts classes. Students must select their courses in PowerSchool and turn in the forms to their Language Arts teachers.

Are you an 8th Grade Parent? The deadline is fast approaching to submit your child's baby picture for the school yearbook. See the blurb below how to have your 8th grader's baby picture in the yearbook.

Are you a 6th Grade Parent? All 7th graders must have the TDAP vaccination. Start planning those doctor visits now!

We have SBAC testing coming up at the end of April, and this year's SBAC Motto is: Go for GREEN, Wolverine! Make it BLUE, Yahoo! We are offering a Saturday Math Bootcamp on 3/25, 4/1, and 4/22 for selected students. Invitations were emailed out Sunday evening. See Ms. Alcala or Ms. Ridgeway for more information.

Spotlight on Learning: Math

Ms. Chen's math classes celebrated Pi Day (3.14) by competing in an Escape Room Challenge. The students worked together to solve puzzles and unlock six clues related to the concept of pi! We hope you had a Happy Pi Day!

SSC Meeting 3/21 at 3:30

The next meeting of the Benton School Site Council will be Thursday, 3/21 at 3:30. We will be reviewing and updating the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Agenda is here.

Wednesday is an A Day

Students will attend periods 1A-4A on Wednesday. This Wednesday, like all Wednesdays, is early release with dismissal at 1:45pm.

Spring Pictures 4/5

Spring Pictures have been rescheduled due to the anticipated rain. Spring Pictures will be on Wednesday, April 5 for all students. Get ready for your close up!

Spring Break 4/7-4/14

Spring Break begins on Friday, 4/7 through Friday, 4/14. Students will return to school on Monday, 4/17. The last day of school before Spring Break, Thursday 4/6 is a minimum day with dismissal at 1:15pm.

8th Grade Baby Photos for Yearbook

To include your 8th Grader's baby picture in the yearbook:

8th Grade Disneyland Trip

Space is limited, reserve your spot now for the 8th Grade Disneyland trip on Tuesday, May 16th! Cost is $120, pay in the office.
