The Compass Notes
September 26th, 2021
A Compass Note:
We shared this quote a few weeks ago with our staff, but we feel that this is relevant to share with our students and families as well. The quote is from Stephen R. Covey with the Leader in Me where he shares that:
"Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important."
We truly feel that reflection is important. When we take time to reflect on what we are saying "yes" to in our lives, and comparing that to what we are saying "no" to, it is important for us to effectively applying many of the 8 Habits in our lives. For instance, when we our mindful of the above quote it can help us to practice Habit 7 of Sharpening the Saw and taking care of ourselves and our families. Additionally, it can help us to practice Habit 1 of Being Proactive in choices, resourcefulness, and responsibilities that exist in our lives. A third habit to make a connection to would be with Habit 6 of Synergizing where we cooperate and work well with others in a common goal.
As you can see, this quote can easily apply to the different habits and areas of our lives. The important thing for us is to remember to stop, take time, and reflect. Doing this allows us to re-center in order to re-prioritize, when needed, for the benefit that can be gained in our personal life, as well as with the relationships of those who matter most to us.
Have a great week Compass family!
