4th Grade's Weekly Update
It was an amazing week at Alcova. Information will be coming soon regarding our 2014-2015 Milestones test. If you have any questions after you receive your child's scores feel free to contact us.
Please see the schedule for Candle light luncheon. We hope you can attend.
Thanks for the great turn out at our parent meetings so far this year. The link between home and school is very important and keep us on the same page when utilizing our resources to reach your child's highest potential.

We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and less students are studying it than a decade ago.
That’s why our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 7-13).
Every student K-5th grade is being asked to give coding a try for ONE hour during this week. Alcova students will pick up or print out an Hour of Coding pledge. They will login to their eCLASS and try some of the coding games for at least ONE hour during the week. Students will ask you, their parents, to sit with them and learn with them as they try coding. When your child has completed their hour of coding, they will return their pledge form signed by you to Ms. Curlew for a surprise! We hope to have all of our 1227 students to complete the pledge! GET CODING!!!
We have four midterm interim coming up in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The dates for these tests are also listed in the Upcoming Dates section of the newsletter. These tests will assess all the material we have covered in class since the start of the school year. It is very important that your child is here to take those tests! There is not a lot of time for the students to make-up these tests.
