Education Specialist
From the results of our Education Specialist survey, we would like to offer communication in as many different ways as we can. If you would like to provide us with your personal e-mail, we can add a distribution group for when we send out call recaps and other material that would be relevant to the position. We will also continue to e-mail information out to the Program Director, Assistant Director, and staff e-mail (ex: conover@rcccstaff.com). Sometimes the file size is too big when sending out the recap, so it does not always go through to the staff e-mail. This will ensure that directors have all of the communication and can help distribute it as needed. If you would like your personal e-mail added, let us know by e-mailing education@rainbowccc.com.

On Rainbow’s Pinterest page, we work on trying to pin things that are relevant to the themes and we also have a board that has specific examples from schools.
Our Facebook page displays photos submitted by schools of activities and things in their center. Teachers can also get some great ideas for their own classrooms from here.

Health, Safety and Licensing Coordinator
When your licensing consultant is at the door for an on-site inspection, how do you respond? Do you start to panic and feel anxious? Or do you feel relaxed and genuinely happy to see your licensing consultant? A lot of your reaction depends on how you view the licensing inspection; if you view it as an imposition, as something to endure, or as a time to be criticized, then you will experience some negative reactions. If, however, these inspections are seen as an opportunity to receive objective feedback to improve or enhance services to the children and their families, then you will look forward to the inspection. Over the next couple issues of the In-House Newsletter you will recieve some tips on how to be prepared for your inspections and to answer the question, “What can the licensing consultant do for me?”

December is a month full of reasons to get together and be merry. Use those reasons to help your staff and families connect and build lasting relationships. Strong, positive relationships help with both staff and customer retention because they feel invested in the center. By hosting or coordinating events, on and off site, during the week and on the weekends, you can help those relationships flourish. These can be as simple as attending a local tree lighting or setting up a winter walk in the park complete with hot cocoa at the end.
Each month we will continue to provide ideas as well as general tips for connecting with staff and families. We would also love to hear your ideas and see your hard work! Please send ideas and pictures of completed activities to education@rainbowccc.com.
Staff Appreciation Idea- “Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.” Margaret Cousins. December 16th is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. Place some chocolate covered treats in the break room with a nice note or card telling the staff how appreciated they are!
Family Connection Idea- December is full of holidays and reasons to celebrate! December 18th is National Bake Cookies Day. Arrange a cookie exchange for both parents and staff to participate in. Remind everyone that Rainbow is a peanut and nut free school, but encourage participation with many unique types of cookies.
*Please ensure you follow state licensing and accreditation guidelines for the cookie exchange
