Today silicon is used for building houses because it's in bricks. It's also used for sanding wood. It is also in adhesives and glass and even in the computers we use. It is very important as it can also be used to fight diseases.
Aliases
Other names include: Acide Orthosilicique, Atomic number 14, Dioxyde de Silicium, Numéro Atomique 14, Orthosilicic Acid, Phytolithic Silica, Polysilicone-11, Si, Silica, Silica Hydride, Silice Hydride, Silicea, Silicio, Silicium, Silicium de Sodium, Silicon Dioxide, Sodium Silicate. It's chemical symbol is Si. The name came from the Latin word silex (flint).
Description
It is a gray color. Atomic Mass is 28.0855 amu. The atomic number is 14. Silicon is a metalloid. It is solid at room temperature.
