WE ARE A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY
“A PLC is composed of collaborative teams whose members work interdependently to achieve common goals for which members are mutually accountable” - Dufours
PLC’s must address and know the following -
What do we want all students to learn? (essential, guaranteed, and viable curriculum/standards)
How will we know they are learning? (frequent, team-developed, common formative assessments)
How will we respond when they don’t learn? (systematic interventions = tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3)
4. How will we respond when they do learn or already know it? (enrichment, extension, TAG etc.)
As we approach the winter holiday season and you are checking in with your PLC on your progress and data, here are some items to think about with your SMART Goal and the progress you are making:
- Are you doing everything in your professional power, as a PLC team contributing to our Professional Learning Community, to keep student learning at the center of your decisions daily?
- Is the SMART goal you are attacking as a team focused on a barrier or potential barrier to ALL students learning at high levels?
- How do you plan to communicate your effectiveness, or lack thereof, to the entire professional community?
