Literacy Corner

This week we learned two word wall words, we and go. We also learned more about letters Dd and Hh. The students are doing very well with Letterland. Please continue to work with them on the Letterland characters at home.

In reading we continued to talk about the season of fall, while learning about a fruit that we pick during this time, apples. The students did a great job learning about apples. We read many books about apples. The students know these texts as informational, expository text. While reading we asked questions about apples to make sure that the students internalized the information read. When reading with your child at home. Please ask them questions about the books read, to make sure that they are understanding what they have learned.

Next week we will learn more word wall words and Letterlanders. We will also begin our thematic unit on farms.

Math Lab

This week in math we continued to work on numbers and shapes. We completed a variety of rotations related to what we have been learning.

Next week we will continue to review numbers and shapes. We will introduce the students to positional words.

COUNTING SUPER HERO! (Counting by 1s to 100 for kids)

Parental FYI...

Please remember to send in your child's snack money. We have a snack in class daily. We ask that you not send in extra snacks. We ask that you pay for it monthly ($8), quarterly ($18) or yearly ($72) to help use our time more for instruction.

Please leave your child's "Weekly Report" in their communicators. We file those away for documentation throughout the year. They will be returned to you at the end of the year.

If your child is a lunch boxer, please send items that your child is able to open on their own. If they like foods that they are unable to open, we will teach them how to open them independently. Please practice opening the items at home, as well.

It is pretty cold in our school and classroom. Please send a jacket with your child for when they get chilly. Also, we allow the students to have water bottles at their seats. Feel free to send in a water bottle for your child. Please make sure the bottles have water only.
