Delivering public service without hesitation
Super typhoon Yolanda devastated a vast area of the Philippines especially the Visayas Region in November 8, 2013. This deadly typhoon was associated with storm surge killing thousands and wiped out most of the homes and infrastructures along its path thereby leaving the survivors homeless and wreaked.
The aftermath of the typhoon struck the whole nation and the world. The government and various civic organizations and volunteers around the world worked hand-in-hand for the relief operations in order to alleviate the victims’ dreadful fate.
Along with the Department’s mission to provide and manage quality infrastructure facilities and services responsive to the needs of the Filipino people, various DPWH teams were deployed to assist in the clearing operations of national roads and bridges. In addition, the government through the DPWH has allotted P239-M housing aids. As one nation, various DPWH District Offices all over the Philippines sent their most efficient and skilled workers for the construction of temporary shelters for the affected and displaced families.
DPWH Secretary, Rogelio L. Singson awarded two employees from this district namely Isidro D. Mallon and Arturo S. Fajemolin both from the Maintenance Section of this office the Certificates of Commendation on December 19, 2013 for their eagerness to Deliver Public Service without Hesitation by extending dedicated and untiring services in the clearing and other disaster response operations.
