Don’t just do something, sit there! Managing Stress with Mindfulness
Thursday, November 17th @ 2:45pm in room 120
This workshop will introduce students to the concept of mindfulness and demonstrate how to incorporate mindful strategies into daily life in order to increase self-awareness, reduce stress, increase feelings of confidence, and increase positive thinking.
This is Only a Test: How to Manage Test Anxiety
Tuesday, January 10th @ 2:45pm in room 120
Students will learn how anxiety can impact them mentally and physically when taking a test. Strategies to reduce anxiety during testing situations and enhance test preparedness will be explored.
Dealing with the Drama: How to Manage Social Stress
Tuesday, February 9th @ 2:45pm in room 120
Students will have the opportunity to discuss social stresses and learn ways to cope with loneliness, feeling left out, and negative comments. This workshop will address ways to build self-confidence and practice positive thinking.
Stand Up and Be Counted! - Increasing Self-Advocacy
Tuesday, March 14th @ 2:45pm in room 120
This presentation will teach students how to access the support available to them in high school. They will also learn what social-emotional resources are available to them at the college level and how to access these services. Students will be asked to assess their own personal strengths and discover ways to use their best qualities to their advantage.
The Pressure is on: How to deal with Academic Stress
Tuesday, April 25th @ 2:45pm in room 120
This presentation will focus on several skills to deal with academic stress including time management, taking breaks, asking for help, setting realistic goals, and keeping things in perspective.
Self-Care is Self-Respect
Thursday, May 25th @ 2:45pm in room 120
This presentation will focus on self-care by discussing how to maintain healthy habits, create a balanced life, and improve self-awareness.
