5 Tips for Family Fitness Fun by NASPE
• Use physical activity as a reward (family goes skating or hiking).
• Create an inside scavenger hunt on a snowy day that takes your children to all the different rooms and levels in your home.
• Keep fresh fruit and vegetable washed, chilled, and ready for snacking.
• Pack a lunch that includes whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
• Play upbeat music while you twist and shake through your daily chores
Art with Ms. Mohn
Each art student will have a piece of their art work framed and displayed in the open space.
You can purchase your child's framed art work for $25. We invite everyone to come, even if you are not able to purchase your child's framed piece of art. However, all proceeds from the art show will go to Ms. N'Namdi, who is on medical leave for the remainder of the year.

Music with Ms. Daw
The NC Symphony Education Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 16. Parents, please make sure that your child has turned in a permission form to his or her home room teacher. This is a wonderful opportunity to see and hear a live orchestra play musical works by some of the greatest composers in musical history. I feel it is very beneficial for each child because we will be studying the music and the composers prior to the trip. This experience also teaches audience etiquette. Please mark this date on your calendar. 4th and 5th grade students should bring recorders to every music class. We are preparing a song to play at the symphony.
Don’t Miss the Talent Showcase at the Kestrel Spring Fest to be held on Saturday, April 14 from 11:00am-3:00pm. Interested students K-8th should see Ms. Daw for an audition form. The Rain Date will be April 28.
K-5 Music students continue to be introduced to America’s Music: Jazz. While adding new jazz songs to their repertoire, students are learning the meaning of various symbols used in music such as the repeat sign and D.S.al Coda to name a few. Students are learning how to improvise and harmonize. Make sure you put the dates below on your calendar for: Gotta Be Jazz!
