COVID Requirements For Virtual Teaching
Teachers. . .
- Do NOT have to take attendance of students on Q cohort.
- Do NOT mark absent students (A, B, C cohort) as present, if they log on Team Meetings from home.
- CAN
- use a pre-recorded video demonstration of the instructional part of a lesson AND Q-Cohort assignments.
- Use video lesson/TEAM meeting for ISS and suspension students
- Leave work with the front desk for Q cohort student with a sticky note or index card with the student’s full name, your name, class, and block.
- Give quiz or tests to Q cohort students at your discretion
- Disable mic, disable camera, or remove disruptive students from class
- IF you Disable Mic”, “Disable Camera”, or remove student from meeting, YOU MUST submit a discipline referral.
- Disable Mic = Students will not be able to unmute themselves.
- Mute Participant = Student can unmute themselves.
- Remove from Meeting = student can let themselves back in.
- CANNOT
- Use 3rd party videos for demonstration instead of CRHS teacher video (YouTube, Khan Academy, etc). It does not meet the “virtual instruction” requirement. These can be used as resources to supplement teacher video instruction.
- Use videos for regular sick students.
- Is there a school policy for submitting the work assigned during a quarantine? Do they have as many days as they were out to turn the work back in?
- Because students are on “virtual instruction” when assigned to Q-Cohort. The expectation is work should be turned in during their time out of the building (if applicable), or the day they return. Teachers, it is important to communicate how you would like the work submitted so you can provide feedback to the student in a timely manner.
- Sick Q Cohort students will have the same makeup policy as in-person sick students.
Hope this help.
Thank you,
Mrs. Christine Fuller
Testing September 28th and 29th
Test should only be about 30 minutes so this will allow the teacher to continue with her class.
September 28th in the afternoon will be during 4th block. Most fourth block teachers, those with 9th and 10th graders in their classes, will just keep their class and proctor the test. Information will be given on how to do this.
Test should only be about 30 minutes so this will allow the teacher to continue with her class.
Because we need to test so many students we have found that there is not a need to split classes up.
Teachers needing to proctor will be notified by Tuesday.
The 29th will be science. We are still looking if we will split the seniors and freshmen or do them at the same time.
Building Hours
Beginning August 23rd - September 2nd Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3pm.
Building is closed on Friday September 3rd and 6th. Normal operations resume September 7th.

Every month you will have an opportunity to nominate students and staff members to be recognized for living the C.O.L.T.S. Life. Remember, there is no punishment for submitting multiple entries, so anytime one of your students or colleagues is demonstrating Caring, Optimistic, Leadership, Team-player, or Self-discipline attributes, submit their name for recognition!
With the help of the C.A.S.T. Club (rock on Kate Bagley, Dena Brogen, and your members!), we will make an effort to recognize every student who is nominated and select TWO students from each grade level for Monthly BOE recognition.
We will also recognize all of the CRHS Staff members who are nominated each month. Each time you are nominated you will receive "flair" linked to your recognition. We will also select a few staff members each month for BOE recognition and some special prizes.
Some House Keeping Guidance:
- Mr. Martin will send out two emails each month. The first email is to let you know you can begin nominations for the month and sharing the previous month's C.O.L.T.S. Life Students and Staff. The second email will be a reminder to get your nominations in before the window closes.
- Nominations do not have to be tied to academic success in your classroom. Focus on growth and the whole student.
- Please nominate one student each month. You can nominate as many students and staff as you would like, but we'd like to see at least one from everybody.
The forms are open for the month of September! Click the links below and start nominating!

Academic Planners: Distribution and Activities
In first block on Monday, September 20, 2021, please distribute one planner per student in your class. If a student is absent or in Q Cohort, please set one aside and write their name in it for when they return. The academic planners offer structure and support for students in every class. The more the student is asked to use their planner and the teacher checks on their practice, the better this can support our students in organizational skills, completing and turning in assignments, and balancing their lives.
We have planners available for staff. If you would like one, please let Dianne Fox-Garrison know.
Week 1
First Block Teachers: For the first day, have students complete their name (full name – first and last name with capitalization) and homeroom on the appropriate lines on the first page. If possible, give students time to look through the planner and see what it has to offer them. Have the students turn to today’s date in the weekly calendar and write one thing they would like to use the planner for this week. (Page 36) Something like this shouldn’t take more then 10 minutes for distribution and glancing over the book.
At the end of the week, have students answer the question on the bottom right side of the weekly planner, “Did I complete my responsibilities this week?” (Page 37) In this case, have them reference their goal for using the planner.
Second through Fourth Block Teachers:
Ask students to show their planners to you. Have them write down any upcoming test or quiz on the correct date and create a countdown to that assessment. If you’d like, ask them about their goal for their planner this week. Check in with them on Friday to see if they met their goal.
Advisors and Coaches:
Have students write their practices in their agendas for the week. Have them go to the month calendar and write in the games on the correct date with the time and opponent. You can teach them the correct notation of a home game (vs. Bridgeton) or an away game (at Bridgeton).
For the first week, all of these actions support students in the life skill of organization.
See some information and a teacher strategy to support students:
1. Improves Organization:
Organization does not come easily to most students. It requires a conscious effort and a great deal of planning; qualities that some students lack. Most often students gets confused and frazzled with having to keep up and plan for their many classes, assignments, test dates and so forth. Due to lack of organization, students’ work or grades often suffer.
Student planners provide an easy and creative method of taking note of their commitments and deadlines. It gives them a systematic approach to recording necessary information on a daily basis. These are then referred to over the course of time, enabling students to prepare and be ready with their class requirements and activities.
Teachers can also assist by using the student planner as an “exit ticket.” In this, students are instructed to have their planners reviewed by the teacher before exiting the class, so as to ensure that they have not missed any vital information.[1]
Week 2
For those of you who plan ahead, starting Monday, September 27th, take time for students to read on the onTRAC Planning Process on pages 2 and 3 in the Academic Planner. Then have students pick one day this week to try this practice out. If you'd like, do the same with the students. At the end of the week, have students again answer the question, "Did I complete my responsibilities this week?" with regards to the onTRAC Planning Process. Share out what went well, where something was difficult and plan to practice again the following week.
2. Tracks Achievements:
Student planners allow students to keep track of their goals. They can use the planner to write down their to-do lists and goals. As they accomplish goals throughout the week, they are able to build momentum and get inspired to work harder. Goal setting is a great skill to learn for school work as well as succeeding in life after school. [1]
