Writing

This week we will be doing some writing activities with our Holiday traditions and activities. We will also be writing a letter to Santa.

At home please encourage the kids to add detail to their writing. We are looking for three or more sentences. As a class we talk about adding detail and descriptive words so our reader can picture it in their head. The students should also be checking their writing for correct capitalization, spelling high frequency words correctly and ending punctuation.

Reading

Our stories this week are...

How Leopard Got His Spots - Folktale (Unit 3 Lesson 12)

Our target skill for this story is Sequence of Events, Story Lesson.

Our Goals for this Unit:

I can read words digraphs ch, tch, possessives with 's, Phonogram -atch.

Words to know: been, brown, know, never, off, out, own, very

Spelling word: chin, chop, much, chip, rich, chick

Due to this being the week of our christmas party and Polar Express day, we will be focusing on these skills during our reading block. However, we will not be taking a end of the week test. Please work with your child on these skills. They will be coming up in later text and lessons.
