Norris News!
A weekly update from campus...
October 19, 2018
Brrrr…..The cold and soggy weather hasn’t slowed down our learning in the least!! As we walk through the classrooms we continue to see students learning at high levels and pushing themselves to the next level. Our Norris teachers go above and beyond every day!! Thank you to our volunteers that helped with Diverse Abilities Day, and the PTA which provided the Diverse Abilities Program "Yes You Can!". These opportunities provided a unique experience for our students to learn about tolerance, acceptance and compassion for all. See more information in the newsletter.
Also, a huge shout out to Mrs. Vandercook for organizing our Multicultural Night!! All of our students did such a great job researching different countries and making power points or art projects to represent each county! The morning started with a parade around the school showing off clothes worn by different cultures and countries. See pictures below.

Mr. Bachrach talked to the students about succeeding in life by meeting challenges head-on.

Important Norris Information
Dismissal at Norris is a very busy time. To help with this, we ask that if you are signing out your student for dismissal, please be here NO LATER than 2:45 pm. After that time, you will need to pick up your student from their normal dismissal location. We do not dismiss students from the front office. Thank you for your support!
DISMISSAL CHANGES
If your child is going home in a means different than their set plan, you must send an email to your teacher by noon of that day. If your child does not have a note, or an email has not been received by their teacher by NOON, he/she will be sent home by the usual means. Please know that the safety of your child is always our number one priority.
LUNCH DROP-OFF
If you are dropping off your student's lunch, for your convenience we have lunch drop off bins in our lobby. Please drop lunches off NO LATER than 10 minutes before your student's lunch time. Any later is disruptive to your student and the lunch monitors. Thank you for your help! Here are the lunch times:
- Kindergarten - 10:30 am
- 1st grade - 11:00 am
- 2nd grade - 11:30 am
- 3rd grade - 12:00 pm
- 4th grade - 12:30 pm
- 5th grade - 1:00 pm
COOLER WEATHER IS HERE!
It has started getting cooler in the mornings, so we ask that you keep in mind the following:
- The carpool line will get longer on cold and rainy mornings, so please plan accordingly. Don't forget that you can drop students off starting at 7:10 am. As a reminder, students should be in their class ready for the day when the bell rings at 7:45 am.
- Please be sure to send a jacket with them on cool weather days, and make sure it is labeled with your student's name.

Reflections
Reflections art projects are NOW DUE ON November 9th. We would love for all students to participate! This year’s theme is Heroes Around Me, and the categories include dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. With positive recognition as the focus of the Reflections program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story. If you have any questions, please contact Divya at diviashu@gmail.com. We are looking forward to seeing all the projects! http://norrispta.org/index.php/reflections/
