NEW FAMILIES INVITED TO ALL SCHOOL MEETING ON FEBRUARY 2nd
A number of new students and families have joined Somerset Elementary this year. It is not easy to be new, and we would like to extend a warm welcome by inviting new families to our "All School Meeting" on Friday, February 2nd. This will give participants a chance to learn about the school and see our whole student body coming together for the weekly celebration of the "Cub Awards". Following the assembly, families are invited to the cafeteria for coffee and muffins along with a brief information session and an opportunity to ask questions and/or share ideas. If you are new this year, please consider joining us on February 2nd @ 8:00am.

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE
Once again, Somerset Elementary School is kicking off the Kids Heart Challenge! We will be doing jump rope exercises during PE class and also raising funds for the American Heart Association. Students and families that wish to participate in the fundraiser may log in here and follow the directions to creating your own home page to get started. Students may also collect donations in the envelope that they bring home from school after their PE class this week. We will wrap up our fundraiser on February 16. The American Heart Association gives thank you gifts based on the amount of donations collected. Some gifts will be awarded instantly at school and some (t-shirts, balls, jump ropes, etc.) will be delivered to the school 4-6 weeks after the event. Students that register online automatically receive a bracelet, whether donations are collected or not.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks for being Heart Heroes!
THE PRINCIPAL'S CAFE
As the principal, I enjoy getting to know the students better and chatting with them while they are eating their lunch. I learn so much about the incredible lessons and activities our teachers are offering in their classrooms while also learning about the challenges students face in school. I find that I never forget a name or face once the students have eaten lunch in my office. Relationships matter!
