Wynford Elementary Newsletter
April--2018
From the Desk of Mrs. Nutter
Testing season is almost over: once all the state required AIR testing is done, 4th through 6th graders will take their final round of MAP testing. Then, it will be full tilt to the last day of school!
May is full of field trips, assemblies, leadership activities and celebrations. Before we know it, we will be on summer break!
This has been a great year for us as a building, we continue to make great academic progress and our students are showing their leadership qualities daily.
Thank you for your continued support as we wrap up the 2017-2018 school year!
Leadership and Empowerment Summit
We applied to be a site visit, have student leaders be a part of the opening ceremony and share in breakout sessions--we were granted all three!
On May 14th, 50 educators will visit our school to see what Leader in Me looks like in action.
Two of our students, Miriam and Hannah McMurray, will be speakers at the opening ceremony.
And, we have two break out sessions--one student led and one with a team of staff members.
We are honored to have been chosen to be part of an amazing event that recognizes how important the principles behind The Leader in Me are and to showcase the awesomeness that occurs in our school.

Leader in Me--Habit 6--Synergize
When people begin to interact together genuinely, and they're open to each other's influence, they begin to gain new insight. The capability of inventing new approaches is increased exponentially because of differences.
Valuing differences is what really drives synergy. Do you truly value the mental, emotional, and psychological differences among people? Or do you wish everyone would just agree with you so you could all get along? Many people mistake uniformity for unity; sameness for oneness. One word--boring! Differences should be seen as strengths, not weaknesses. They add zest to life.
Student Led Celebrations
Students will be able to share their academic and personal goals for the year, sharing the action steps they have taken, the results they have achieved and the celebrations they have had throughout the year.
If you are not able to make it, we will make sure that all students have someone to share with, whether it is staff, high school students or parent volunteers.
What a great opportunity to wrap up the year for the students!
