Woodridge News Parent Update
Week of 10/05/2020
Greetings Woodridge Families!
First, I want to thank you again for being a part of our team! NBA Coach Phil Jackson's quote says, "The Strength of the Team is each individual Member..." Thank you for doing your part as a vital member of this team. We are all continuing to learn as we work diligently together to navigate this virtual experience. I know it hasn't been easy for everyone. So, thanks for continuing to support your scholars through this process.
During the next two weeks, we will continue preparing and implementing protocols for the safe return of our scholars whose parents selected campus supervised learning for the second six weeks. We have an important informational parent meeting scheduled for October 13th at 6:00 p.m. This meeting is only intended for parents who selected campus supervised learning for their scholars for the second six weeks. If that's you, we look forward to you attending. We will be reviewing the district and campus reconnect re-entry guidelines.
Lastly, communication is very important as we work collaboratively to minimize any concerns that arise during this time. Please ensure that you are connected with your scholar's teachers through Schoology, Dojo and/or email. Our office staff is also available to assist you. Remember, we are a TEAM and Together Everyone Achieves More!
Warm Regards,
Principal Lunkin

The Importance of Hispanic Heritage Month
Every year from September 15 to October, Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the contributions of Americans o Spanish and Latin Heritage. Hispanic Heritage Month "pays tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.
Hispanic Heritage Month, whose roots go back to 1968, begins each year on September 15, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile, and Belize also celebrate their independence days during this period and Columbus Day (DÃa de la Raza) is October 12.
The following is a presentation of remarkable Hispanic Figures that have inspired and contributed to their communities.

ATTENDANCE AND GRADES
Parents,
We've reached the end of the first three weeks of virtual learning, and your student's first progress reports will be posted in Parent Portal, October 1, 2020. They will ONLY be available via Parent Portal, as no printed progress reports/report cards will be available during the AAL platform. Please click on the 'PROGRESS REPORT" Tab to view your students' progress through week three. Be reminded, that grades, attendance, and more can be found in Parent Portal. Please familiarize yourself with it, as it will be your primary source of information regarding your student's attendance and grades. If you need access to your parent portal account, please email me with your valid ID and student(s) name and I will assist you.
Thank you for doing the wonderful job you've done to date assisting your students with their virtual learning experience. Please be reminded that for attendance purposes, your student must be engaged through Zoom, Schoology, or checking in with the teacher daily (non-tech option) by 11:59PM. Non-tech options MUST connect with the teacher to schedule check-in time and method for attendance if you've not already done so. Attendance is posted at 12:00 noon on the next day. So, Monday's attendance will be posted on Tuesday, Tuesday's attendance on Wednesday, etc. Attendance is being tracked and excessive unexcused absences will lead to truancy.
If you have an emergency that requires your student to be away for a complete 24-hour period, please email me immediately to see if your absence is excusable. If your student has a doctor's appointment, please make sure they are engaged through Schoology (tech) or check-in (non-tech) prior to OR after the appointment to be counted present for the day. If you have any questions regarding absences for doctors, funerals, etc, please contact me, as with the Anytime, Anywhere Learning platform, your student has 24 hours to complete assignments to be accounted present for any given day.

Woodridge Parents,
We realize these times are stressful for everyone. Here is a Calm Calendar to start for the month of October. Take time to meditate and participate in the daily activities to calm your mind. It's the small things and nice gestures that could brighten someone's day. And yours too!!! Enjoy!
