Building a College Going Culture
LEHS College Fair: Wednesday, September 11, 2019
According to the College Board, “A college-going culture builds the expectation of post-secondary education for all students—not just the best students. It inspires the best in every student, and it supports students in achieving their goals.” LEHS is committed to providing our students with opportunities to explore post-secondary choices. DECA (a student marketing association) will be hosting the LEHS Annual College Fair on Wednesday, September 11, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Over 120 colleges will be available to visit with students about their programs.
LEHS is blessed to have a Coordinator of College Readiness. Her name is Mrs. Keisha Brown and you can reach her at keishabrown@littleelmisd.net. She has been working with Mr. Hutley and DECA to make sure our College Fair is a success. Mrs. Brown is eager to help enhance the college going culture at Little Elm and assist LEHS students in the college admissions process. Her goal is to help all students realize their true potential and achieve the goals they have set for themselves. She can be reached at keishabrown@littleelmisd.net . LEHS will provide many other college readiness activities throughout the year. Stay tuned, more details coming soon!

The LEHS students recognized took one or more of seventeen different AP exams. The College Board recognized 41 students who received scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams with the “AP Scholar Awards”, 9 students with the “AP Scholar with Honor Award” to students who received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams, 18 students with “AP Scholar with Distinction Award” to students who received an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams, and 3 “National AP Scholar Award” to students who received an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken and scores of "4" or higher on eight or more of these exams.
These students hard work has earned them not only recognition from College Board but AP scores of 3 or higher are awarded college credit at all Texas state universities as well as many universities outside of Texas. Congratulations to all of our AP award recipients!
Counseling Topics Promote Healthy Lifestyle Choices
Little Elm ISD and the LEHS counseling staff understand the important role that social-emotional well-being plays in academic success and an overall healthy lifestyle. As part of our efforts to support students on a holistic level, our campus counseling staff provides information and/or prevention activities for the guidance topics outlined below.
We understand that each student comes to us with different backgrounds and experiences, and we want to partner with parents and guardians to provide the most appropriate experience possible for students. Toward that end, we invite you to consider the specific guidance topics we’ll be covering:
Suicide Prevention
Substance Abuse Prevention
Bullying/Cyberbullying Prevention
Relationship Violence Prevention/Sexual Assault Prevention
Parents may choose to exclude their students from these state-mandated guidance presentations/activities by completing the form and returning it to the student’s house office. You may use one form for all children on this campus. Forms were distributed to students at the end of August. If the form is not received by house office staff by Sep. 13, the student will be permitted to participate.
House counselors are currently scheduling individual meetings with seniors to review graduation requirements, goal setting, and post-secondary planning. Each member of the Class of 2020 will receive an invitation/pass to see the counselor, and parents are welcome to attend. Meetings will take place between now and November 1.

Even if a student never uses their eligibility in the lunchroom, they can benefit greatly in other areas if they qualify for the Lunch Program. Eligibility has to be reestablished each year. You can fill out the application here. We highly suggest that all families fill out an application to see if you qualify.
