Spotlight Strategy for the Week of January 25, 2016
As instructors we are always looking for practical knowledge and tools to create positive and lifelong learning. Time is of the essence in so many ways, I thought this would be a quick and easy way for you to browse and try some new strategies as we continue to develop our learner centered classrooms
Using Poster Creation For Thinking - Working In Groups - Discovery Learning !
Once the groups have written their finished summaries, provide them with a poster board or piece of butcher paper with the top section (6-10 inches) being used as a banner to display the topic/title . Divide the remainder of the space into four categories to display the various summaries of the pdf. The group will place all of the summarized information into 1 of 4 main categories. The group will then work collaboratively to assemble the information, pictures, or any other items on the the poster for display.
The group will also create 16 questions which cover the various key components of their topic. These questions will need to be submitted (including the answers) prior to the "discovering/learning" activity so they can be distributed to the rest of the class.
Each student will get a copy of the questions created by the other groups. Students will go to the poster/butcher paper and "discover/learn" the answers to the questions the groups created. Each student will turn in their answers at the end of the activity.
