Welcome August
Wishing you a Happy Month of August.
Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.

Energy of Intention
Intention is very important in energy healing, and in life. Everything we do starts with the vibrational energy of intention. From that intention come the thoughts, words and actions that become our life. These thoughts, words and actions draw the situations and people into our life that we encounter. It is all connected, and it all starts with intention. The intention that we set is the vibrational state that we are operating from. It sets the tone for how we will behave, how our lives will be, and even how we will feel. It becomes who we are and how others perceive us. It is the “vibe” or energy we radiate. So even before we have thought, said or done anything, our intention for how we want to be in the world and the effect we want to have on the Earth is important. It is important to our healing work, as it sets the tone for what sort of energy we are putting into our work. There is a frequent misconception about intention, however. When you set an intention, it is not the same as making a wish and waiting for the wish to be granted. When you set an intention, you are acknowledging the flow from that intention, through you and into the world. You acknowledge that you are setting your energy to a state where your thoughts, words and actions will now begin to shift and follow through to the fulfillment of that intention, even if you don’t know how that will happen. Often, we don’t know how the end result of our intention will come to be. It may seem so big or so far away from where we are now that we can’t imagine it clearly, or don’t know the steps to get there. By setting the intention, we set the course for our energy to begin to shift in the ways it needs to for the intention to come to be, to the extent that we are ready and open to it. This brings change to our minds, hearts and lives. It changes our energy. There is always change when you set an intention. We all set intentions every day, though we aren’t always aware of them. Consciously setting an intention is different. It is a way of accepting responsibility for your life and for the power you have over it. If you set intentions for something to come to you or for a change to happen in your life, but you are unwilling to do or change anything in yourself or your life to allow that to happen, then you are blocking the intentions you set. Both allowing and action are important to creative change. The only one in charge of your energy and your life is you. By being open to allowing change and to taking action to bring your intentions into being, you take full responsibility and control of your life. That can be a little frightening at first, but it is a great feeling when you step into it. To use intention to expand your heart and your awareness, especially in service to others is a wonderful thing, and will serve you in the end. This is what takes place when we set an intention for healing at the beginning of a healing session. We intend to be present in a loving way, with an open heart, and allow healing energy to flow through. The intention is that the session be for their greatest and highest good, though we don’t know what that may be or what the outcome will look like. We don’t know the path the healing will take, either in the short term or in the long term. In order for the healing to be most effective, both the healer and the client must be open to change, expansion and possible action. Having a clear understanding about intention can lead to more ease in reaching your goals and less frustration. Be open to the path that may arise for you when you set an intention and be prepared to walk it. Pay attention to the signs, even if they are unexpected. Listen to the energy within your own body and heart. Take the steps and opportunities that your mind opens to. Most of all, allow your heart and mind to open. That’s what setting an intention is all about—changing the energy of your heart and mind.
Family,
A father's love for his son is magnificent and encompassing. A kid is a dad's greatest expectation, the most important project he has in life. He teaches him everything he knows and makes every possible effort to make his son a better person. Being a father means you have to think fast on your feet. You must be judicious, wise, brave, tender, and willing to put on a Sailors hat and play pirates in the family room floor. During the month of July, we celebrate family day. It was 13 years ago this month that Jaiden was placed in our arms. He has made us laugh, made us proud, made us cry, seen us cry, hugged us tight, seen us fail, cheered us up, kept us on our toes, and at times yes, driven us crazy. But our Son is a promise that we will have a friend forever. We are so proud of you Jaiden. We love you to the moon and back!
The month of July always brings special memories and fondness to our family. For us our family is like a big beautiful patchwork quilt. Each of us different yet stitched together. In our family we tease that there is a little bit of craziness, a little bit of loud and a whole lot of love. We are very blessed.
With Love,
Did you know that August is the only month that has no official holiday.
The month of August brings us National Aviation Day and the last full month of summer.
The Full Moon on August 3rd is called the Sturgeon Moon because of the great number of these huge freshwater fish that could once be found in lakes and rivers in North America.
The birth flowers for August are the Showy Gladiolus and the Striking Poppy.
The birthstones for August are Peridot and Sardonyx.
The zodiac signs for August are Leo and Virgo.
In the United States The month of August is often referred to as the "dog days of summer" but not because of pet pooches. It has to do with the star Sirius, also known as the dog star, which rose at the same time as sunrise during the month of August in ancient Roman times. August is a wonderful month for star gazing! It’s the month of the Perseid meteor shower, which peaks between August 11 and 13. This year, they peak right around the last quarter Moon, which means that the Moon shouldn’t wash out too many of the “falling stars.”

Tarot of the Month
Ed,
The month of August brings us nice surprises. The three cards pulled are for the 31 days. The first card being the first ten days, the second card being the next ten days, and the last card being the remaining eleven days. (Cards are from "Fearie Tarot by Nathalie Hertz)
1st Card: The Moon
This intriguing full moon with its enigmatic smile is the symbol of mystery, sensitivity, dreams, and unconsciousness. It also represents the female passages of life related to fertility. Wrapped in a starlit night, the moon reigns over the world of darkness, protecting all the fairies. It reveals to us our hidden forces and invites us to communicate with our inner self. This card of the night lights up the world of imagination and leads to the whimsical illusions. The water running below symbolizes the Moon’s power upon the water, which reflects it. But appearances can be misleading, since its light is merely a reflection of the sun. Divinatory meaning: The unconscious, imagination, intuition, dreams, clairvoyance. The night, sensitivity, secret desires, childhood memories. Family, pregnancy, voyages on water. Withdrawal into oneself, and idleness.
2nd Card: Two of Swords:
This blindfolded fairy holds her two swords, crossed, indicating alliance and competition, attraction and repulsion. The two swords compete and show us different worlds, symbolized by the two banners. They also represent the balance of the spiritual forces. Divinatory meaning: Harmony, agreement, friendship, partnership. Good results after much effort. A delayed decision, some tensions.
3rd Card: Two of Cups:
Standing on a flowered balcony, this young fairy talking to the birds represents osmosis, respect, and harmony with the surroundings. The stars are symbols of bonds and communion. All three figures—the two birds and the fairy—connote the triumph of the heart and deep love. Divinatory meaning: A lasting love, a wedding. A new relationship, reciprocal attraction and passion. Engagement, union, understanding, and harmony. A sincere friendship. A reconciliation, a found love, and artistic success.
Questions and Counsel
Dear Katelyn,
I just recently lost my father and what hurts the most is that he won't get to be there for major events in my life. What can I do to feel better? Does it ever get better?
Sincerely,
AEL
Hi AEL,
I am greatly sorry for your loss. Grief is tough. I can’t say whether it will get better, but I promise that eventually you will begin to have more consistent good days than bad. To get better you will have to lean into the pain. Find something you can do alone that allows you to mourn the passing of your father. It can be as small, or as big as you want. This will help you get the sad out. Also, don’t be afraid to talk about him and tell stories of him. The best and final advice I can give is to take care of you. You are your father’s continuance and the best way to honor your father and his lasting continuance is by honoring yourself.
They never really leave us, btw.
Sincerely,
Katelyn

Spiritual Practices
Diane:
I am continuing the discussion on chakras with the third chakra the solar plexus. The solar plexus chakra which is yellow in color, sits over the stomach and the nerve ganglia under the diaphragm. It filters energy into our vital organs so that they can break down nutrients for digestion. This happens on the physical level with food and on the mental level with ideas. It governs the autonomic nervous system, stomach, gall bladder, large intestine, liver, pancreas, digestive system and muscular system. Issues with the digestive system, arthritis, diabetes and hypoglycemia are some diseases and physical problems connected to the imbalance of this chakra. Since emotions are controlled by the solar plexus imbalance can also manifest as depression, frustration, isolation, doubt, lethargy, inability to deal with chaos and anger. When this chakra is balanced you feel confident, zealous, calm, cheerful, and self respectful. It also ensures that you are expressive about your feelings and that you are outgoing, flexible and can handle problems with a calm mind. You create boundaries for yourself and you feel independent. Affirmations- I use my power wisely. I am worth my weight in gold. I am confident that life will support me through all its changes.
Crystals- citrine, amber and topaz
Archangel Uriel corresponds to the solar plexus. He can be called upon whenever you feel fear or anxiety. To heal the solar plexus, try to separate yourself from negative or belittling people, practice self love and taking care of you body, meditate with using citrine, yellow jasper and topaz, eat yellow foods such as pineapples, bananas and squash.
Blessed be!
Energy Channeling
Bjorg:
Channeling
There are two main reasons people channel. The first one is to receive higher vibrational energy. This could be in preparation for the second option or it could be as a form of higher aid if they’re perhaps struggling with a certain battle in life. The second option is to receive messages from these beings. This could be in answer to a question or simply as a form of guidance.
How to Prepare for Spiritual Channeling
If you’ve ever meditated before then you’ll have a good starting block at which to begin your channeling. Either way, there are extra preparations that should be made. You want your room to be full of positive energy and have as little negativity in it as possible. Some simple ways to do this are: placing a crystal ball in the room, lighting some candles (particularly the same color as your archangel), incense also works pretty well. This prepares your environment but you also need to prepare your mind. Sticking to a diet of high vibration foods is a great help. Naturally grown and free of additives is a safe way to avoid low energy foods. Avoid alcohol, drugs or foods high in sugars. This also includes any processed foods.
Meditation
Before you start channeling, you need to be in the perfect frame of mind. For this, you should meditate. If you’ve never meditated before, simply sit or lie down in a quiet place. Focus on your breathing. Pay attention to when breath in starts and when it ends, notice when the breath out starts and when that ends. Anytime you feel your mind beginning to wander, simply go back to focusing on your breathing. Do this until you feel like you can notice each thought before you have it.
Begin Channeling
To start, you want to remain in this same headspace. You’re going to concentrate on what your purpose of this action is. Are you channeling angels? Are you trying to contact other spirits? Why do you need their aid? Have all this in mind and focus on it. Open up your mind and soul but remain focused. Don’t expect to feel any change straight away. If you’re trying to receive energy from an archangel then focus on their color. In your mind or out loud, inform them of why you need it. Stay in this mindset until you feel like it’s served its purpose. Trust your instincts.
Channeling to Receive a Message
If you’re searching for a specific answer then stay in your meditative state. Ask the spirits, angels or archangels your question. Listen for their answer but be wary that it may come from inside you. For example, if you ask them “Does anyone need my help?” and you suddenly think of your mother then that is your answer. Don’t hold out for a message in the clouds or a visit from Gabriel. Sometimes spiritual channeling simply leads you to the answer you were searching for. Channeling meaning doesn’t have to be divine; it can sometimes be a journey within that is aided by higher beings.
Pen to Paper
With that in mind, there is another technique some use to receive a message. Before preparing for the channeling, have a piece of paper and a pen ready. Ask your question or for guidance on your situation and wait. Hold the pen in one hand so that the point is in the center of the paper. You’ll begin to feel your hand moving and the trick here is to just let it. Some people worry because it feels like they themselves are guiding it. This can be how it feels and if that is the case for you, simply trust your instincts and go with it.
Many ask: What does channeling mean? It’s different from person to person and the messages received through this technique are rarely clear words. You may be left with a series of symbols or perhaps some badly drawn pictures. Either way, you’re then going to have to interpret these for yourself. This can be a little tricky and you may struggle to work out what the messages mean. Again, it is essential that you trust your gut instincts here, as your conscious mind may be incapable of working it out. Just remember that the answer came from within and so it is still there. Angel channeling isn’t always as straightforward as a yes or no answer.
Patience is a Virtue
As with many of these techniques, patience is an incredibly vital factor. It’s important to keep that in mind before you go in. You may not get a clear answer the first, second, third, or twentieth time. Just keep a note of the feelings and thoughts you had, the symbols you saw and perhaps what you think they might mean. If you used the pen to the paper method then keep your scribbles as they could have a larger meaning that you just can’t see yet. Channeling angels could provide some interesting insights into yourself and that the channeling meaning may surprise you.
With love always

Rain forests are some of the most beautiful places on earth. It is simply impossible to describe the beauty, majesty, and gorgeousness to those who have never had the inspiring experience of standing in the heart of a primary rain forest. Although rain forests are one of the most resourceful lands on Earth, they are one of the many elements that many of us overlook. For those who don’t know what exactly a rain forest is, a rain forest can be described as a lush, thick, and tall jungle full of trees that can completely cover the forest’s floor. This is due to its climate, which includes warm temperatures and abundant precipitation. In fact, rainfall is often more than 100 inches a year. Tropical rain forests are found along the equator, between the tropic of Cancer and the tropic of Capricorn. Rainforests provide vivid beauty that comes with great diversity in plants and animals. To most of us rainforests probably seem miles away and often a distant concern. What many don't know is that these ecosystems are critically important for our well-being. Rainforests are often called the lungs of the planet. They play a practical role in keeping our planet healthy through absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing the oxygen that we depend on for our survival. The absorption of this CO2 also helps to stabilize the Earth's climate. Rainforests also help to maintain the world's water cycle by adding water to the atmosphere through the process of transpiration which creates clouds. Water generated in rainforests travel around the world; Scientists believe that moisture generated in the forests of Africa ends up falling as rain in the Americas! Tropical rainforests contain over 30 million species of plants and animals. That's half of the Earth's wildlife and at least two-thirds of its plant species! There are also many more thousands of rainforest plants and animals’ species still waiting to be discovered. Rainforests store water like a huge sponge. In fact, it is believed that the Amazonian forests alone store over half of the Earth's rainwater! Rainforest trees draw water from the forest floor and release it back in to the atmosphere in the form of swirling mists and clouds. Without rainforests continually recycling huge quantities of water, feeding the rivers, lakes and irrigation systems, droughts would become more common, potentially leading to widespread famine and disease. Surprisingly, soil in the rainforest is very poor in nutrients. This is because the nutrients are stored in the vast numbers of trees and plants rather than in the soil. Tree roots bind the soil together, while the canopy protects the soil from heavy rains. When a tree dies and its trunk falls to the forest floor, it decays and the nutrients it contains are recycled. However, if trees are removed from the forest, the nutrients are removed with it. It may surprise you to know that more than 25% of our modern medicines originate from tropical forest plants. Even so, we have only learned how to use 1% of these amazing plants, so imagine the possibilities if we could experiment with the other 99%!
I was lucky enough to visit the Choco Darien Rainforest located on the Pacific side of Panama. It covers roughly 129,000 Hectares or a little more than 318,000 acres of land. It is an experience I will not forget and a reminder of how important the rainforest is to our wellness.
