A New Kangaroo
In 1990, a new species of tree kangaroo, the golden\ tree kangaroo, was discovered in the Torricelli Mountains of Papua New Guinea. It has a pale chestnut coat. This marsupial was discovered on the Indonesian side of the New Guinea island. There are only a few of this animals and their population is decreasing. These Marsupials are important to us. They aren't just adorable they are endangered. Read more to find out about these poor animals.

Baby Kangaroos
They are completely weaned about 1 year of age. However, they will stay with their mother for about another 6 months.

Why do they matter?
They matter, so we should care
Millions of years ago the ancestors of Macropods—the family of marsupials that includes kangaroos and wallabies—descended from the trees. But one group of Macropods, known as tree kangaroos, eventually returned to that arboreal life. They are important part of the food chain. When they go on land they are ver clumsy and get eaten by animals quickly. So if they didn't try to go on the ground, well it's the ripple effect. All of the parts of the food chain get effected, Even us.
Baby's
Baby kangaroos are called joey's. They are babies for about 20 months with there mothers care. Then sent off to live on their own for the next 18 years of their life. When they our born they are very small. But can grow to be 16 to 30 inchs big.

Feeding
Their diet is mainly leaves. Since they spend the majority of there lives in the trees that is their only food source. They will also eat bark and sap. Along with occasionally berries that they find. Their diet is limited and doesn't have much we have to stop cutting down trees for these animals.
