One wrong turn in the right direction
Leif Eriksson is credited as the first European to step foot on North American soil, but that's not the entire story of Leif. I think to start off with Leif we should go back farther to his father Erik the Red. Erik the Red is known as the man who settled Greenland, So exploring is in Leif's blood. Leif did not only discover America, he and his crew were also the first vikings to travel to Vinland. He later had a son named Thorgils. Leif's expedition to Vinland was important because it encouraged other Norse travelers to also make that expedition. Although he is not frequently talked about or celebrated, Leif's discoveries are still important in understanding the Norse people.
We are lucky to have survived that storm. Although I fear we are headed in the wrong direction. I do not know were we will end up, but I hope we arrive on land soon. The men are hungry and food supply is low. I know we have passed are destination by now, but we can't go back. We have seen birds, I don't know where we are but land is near. This land isn't like anything we've seen before, I don't know where we are but we can live here until we return.
