Hero Headlines HMS Staff News
September 23, 2019
General Announcements.....
- Task- Oriented: Often students are extremely excited about the big ideas, becoming task-oriented allows students to go from idea to action. Therefore, moving students from What if… to a To-do List creates the opportunity for student ownership in the learning process. (According to Hattie, cognitive task analysis has an uber effect size of d=1.29)
- What are your ideas??? come talk to me if you have a suggestion.....
- Mrs. Harrison sent out an email about failing grades conferences. If you anticipate having ANY ELL students or SpEd students fail your class, you MUST notify Mr. Thompson (SpEd) or Mrs. Harrison (ELL) by Sept. 27th. Remember, you have to provide accommodations and modifications that are outlined in the IEP or LPAC. If students are failing even with accommodations - the bigger questions are why and what are we going to do about it?
- Message from PTO: Hey Heroes! I want to pass along a message from our PTO! Just a reminder that it is Sponsorship Week! We understand that some parents have not seen the sponsorship forms, so we are extending the deadline for our PTO Sponsorship Drive until Wednesday, September 25. The advisory in each grade that brings in the most money, will win a pizza party! And it is a tight race right now! This sponsorship drive is the only fundraiser we do, so we need your support! Thank you!
- Great work getting through conferences. Continue to work on getting 100% contact - make phone calls, etc. Please give us feedback here on the process. We will ask for feedback from families as well!
- We are purchasing a Breakout Edu subscription for the building - have fun escaping!!
